So, I find my self looking for a new car to run about in. I have had a couple of different things lined up which fell through for one reason or another.

My real problem is that I don't have many criteria by which to pick a car - with that in mind, it makes almost anything possible!

So, budget £25k (although have been looking up to £40k+ and also much lower). Don't need more than 1 seat in reality but can have more. Shortish daily commute (25 miles per day) plus fun at the weekend and am not too concerned about the mpg.

Cars - I like all sorts. Sports cars. GT cars. Convertibles. SUVs. 4x4s. All of them I like and wouldn't object in owning.

I guess my only real criterion comes with regards to running costs - I'd like to have an idea as to what my annual costs are going to be - so either a car that isn't going to unexpectedly lunch it's engine...but if it is going to do so, then a good (manufacturer's) warranty in place annually to cover this (Porsche/BMW etc).

I also want to feel that I'm getting value out of the whole package - I recently looked at a M3 CSL (fantastic car) but once the mileage goes over 60k, the warranty doubles in cost and that doesn't appear like value to me (I am aware as to why though!).

So - suggestions/ideas?

Is it FX50 in the UK? I can't see that on their site. QX50, 60, 70 and 80?

370z from Nissan in their cared4 deal. If memory serves you can get warranty//mot's/breakdown all for a fixed fee for up to 3 years cover. I think 1 year is standard/free.

Eta: Although for your budget you could just get a new/nearly new with decent mfr warranty.

I'd like to keep some value in the car after a year or two - hence looking at older motors.

The problem is that it becomes circa £2,200 for the warranty after 60k miles which I don't like the sound of - it doesn't sound like good value when lower than 60k miles is circa £1,000!

I love CSLs though - sooooo tempting!!
