Please tell me about Brussels (the place, not the veg!)

I'm off to Brussells for an overnight stay with the O/H at the end of January courtesy of the very generous Eurostar Seat Sale!

It's very ignorant of me, but honestly I know nothing about the place!!

So, any suggestions on such things as a good restaurants, reasonable hotel Preferably near the Eurostar Station), places to go, things to see etc etc, would be greatly appreciated.

Excellent timing, i'm off there in a couple of weeks for the Xmas market (OH wanted to go). As we're there for three days and the Xmas market will take likely a couple of hours im all ears for ideas to keep me occupied.

Brussels is the centre for art nouveau, particularly buildings and furnishings, if you're into that kind of thing. It's possible to have take an organise guided trip to some of the main sites and get inside some of the buildings. Well worth doing if you like this stuff (we do!)
