Quick question, I'm currently looking for a new car and I can't help but notice how reasonable Z4 coupe and Caymans are.

Considering they are very similar in price which would people choose and why;

z4 coupe 3.0 vs Cayman 2.7

Z4 M coupe vs Cayman 3.4

I understand the M and 3.4 will be more fun but with running cost etc do I really need the fastest or can I have the slightly slower version for a fraction of the cost but only missing out on a few % of the power?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

If you want to drive fast and your not technically a great driver, get a Cayman. If you want to drive something which is a big of a handful with a big smile on your face, get a Z4m.

If you want performance on a budget, get the Z4 3.0si.

Thanks

I have had a few BMW's (currently an E90 M-Sport) admittedly not an M car but I can't stop thinking about the Porsche espically when they are the same price. I remember when they came out and the Z4 always own road tests but that was usually down to cost.

Is there anything I should be looking for on each car?

When I was looking the Cayman was considerably more to buy, that combined with the internet engine failure horror stories led me to go for the z4 Coupe; Stunning to look at, quick enough and surprising economical.
