Hows the V8 fuel pump coming on? (a little birdy told me what it is the other day, and it sounds like a good choice! ;-) )

Pretty much. the timescales involved with the Falcon rocket were longer than we wanted, it was unlikely to deliver us 2015 car with a rocket. Nammo can along at the perfect time, they are developing a motor the perfect size for year one running, & cluster of the same rocket will be used for year two.

How many rockets can you fit in? It looks to me like you will need at least four to get the thrust you are after (equivalent to the North Star Aurora rocket stage) and five will not pack so tightly within a circular cross section.

3 OR 4.

Final decision likely to be made once we've characterized the car performance & will be confirmed after year 1 running.

If they burn at a different rate will it steer the car off to one side ? How do you compensate ?

Strain gauged load ring will detect asymmetric burn way before it's noticeable & the system will call an abort run.

Is there a designed-in way to loadbalance the HPTP across the cold end of the cluster of rockets?

I love this thread ......
I don't understand the answers (and in most cases don't understand the questions) - but they all seem to be answered confidently.

If you tell people anything with confidence they will believe it.

Although I can confirm no BS has been spouted.

Just been listening to his Podcast, very very good, his own knowledge of Race/Engineering/Science shows through he didn't ask dumb questions, then I remembered he was on TV with HOW2 in the late 80's with Carol Vorderman and Fred Dinenage.

Gareth would/could make a great program on video rather than just Podcasts and be very watchable and entertaining.
