Moved from Yorkshire (Hull) to Guildford back in march and again moved to Woking near the station about 2 months ago.

Ive not really been out for any drives yet as I dont know wheres any good round here. I found a few roads down near Shalford, Peasmarsh etc near the B3000 back when I was in Guildford. Are there any decent roads round here I could check out.

Traffic seems to be a huge problem being Northern I am not used to it and its fairly frustrating as everyone seems to drive like a c*** down here, plus the smaller back roads round here are not best suited to an E92

Welcome to this neck of the woods

There are some good roads going south south/west and west,
although always going to be more traffic than you are used to.

Keep an eye open for one of the local Hoons

How to win friends and influence people? In a Hull "city of culture" style? laugh

There's a nice little road near Woking known as Pirbright (or Deepcut) Bends:

It's the B3012 between Brookwood and Deepcut/Frimley:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=pirbright&hl=...

Further south, the A272 has some nice sections.

Northerners say it how it is. Don't mean nowt by it.

(P.S. I have lived near Godalming for 17 years, originally from Sheffield)

This. I go to most Sunday services and quite a few hoons and live near the mclaren tech centre end of Woking. Some of those start towards Reading up the m3.
You're quite welcome to convoy (as long as you're not a weirdo) haha!
Keep your eyes peeled for stuff in here or the Sunday service thread.

Just be careful down Grange road which comes off the Pirbright bends as it is also a lovely drive and just been resurfaced so lovely and smooth. Unfortunately the donut funds are short and most mornings now I see a scamera van down there frown

Cheers all. Driving standards down here are frankly shocking, I have had more near misses in 9 months than I have in 8 years driving up north.

Alex, I read about Pirbright in another thready today actually so Ill be sure to check that out sometime, looks suitable for an e92!

Nah I'm not too strange. Drive as 320d though - are diesels allowed?! - Ill keep my eye out smile

Been oh Fish and Chip runs many times with other PHers and they were a good crowd.

......God knows how Hull was awarded city of culture......

It's because down south we have to rush around, we have jobs to get to!

P.s I'm joking. I'm a southerner and my partners a northerner - this is my standard response when she moans about M4 corridor traffic hehe she gets her own back on rent prices and the distribution of baked goods outlets.

pretty soon you'll be driving like a c*** yourself, mike. biggrin

you get used to it and when you go back "home" to see relatives you realise how slow they drive in the north.

i'm from the wirral, originally, and when i go back to my ma's everyone is flashing headlights and flicking vees at me. i'm just driving in my normal (southern) way but it's still horse'n'cart style up there.

Already do smile

Was the whole pulling out at junctions that got me to begin with. Now its just the lack of common sense and the astounding use of roundabouts that's the problem.

Northerners are horribly slow at driving though.

If you have android or an iPhone I'd really recommend the 'greatest road' free app. - has most of the good ones on;

I'd recommend taking the a283 south from Guildford to Petworth which gets you into an area where there are miles of the best roads in every direction - you have the a272 to your left or right, or continue straight ahead up the a285 towards goodwood. Also gives you the option to do the Hindhead tunnel on your way back to Woking. Biggest difference with being down south I've found is that to get clear roads you need to get up earlier.

Plus the B3012 is only weeks now from it's new 30mph limit, thank goodness.

The bends further on are being reduced to 40mph from national, however, as there is not a living sould along it or any buildings, I should suspect respectful hoonage is still very much an option. Just not past me anymore smile

I have a recent Android phone (and tablet) and can't find that app. Any hints?
