Last Saturday nite i was driving home from friends house at about 1 in the morning and i came across a car in the middle of the road. The GF asked if we could stop which we did and found it to be dead (ran over)

The cat did have a collar on and i removed the collar which had a phone number on it. How could the person who hit the cat no stop and check and do the decent thing and phone the owner like i had to do at 1 in the morning waking them up and giving them the bad news.

I offered to take the cat home but the cat had been hit right outside her house and she came and got the cat from us and was upset.

I got a text from the owner the following nite saying thanks for doing what we did so she had the chance to lay her cat to rest.

Hope the person who hit the cat SLEPT well censored

But reinforced that iam not being cruel keeping my cats in and since this i have had mine chipped.

Seen cats run out under a car so late that the driver would never have seen them, especially in the dark. I doubt they'd feel anything and if they did wouldn't see anything in the mirror in the dark.

It isn't at all cruel to keep your cats in at night. (With a litter tray, obviously.)

Aside from the danger on the roads, they could be attacked by wildlife.

Virtual pint to you OP.

We bring our cats in at night too - this means sometimes I am up at 11pm or later calling for them....

I watched my cat get run over but I don't think the driver knew much about it. The cat seemed to run between the wheels and come out the back end being thrown about 10 feet in the air.

He lived though, two broken legs and a bloody nose.
