I went the ceramic coated header route to help with under bonnet temps

How big a difference Moif?

Been thinking a little more on how to alleviate under bonnet temps on mine.

On an old Land Rover 90 I had I swapped the 2.5 Petrol out for a 2.5 200Tdi engine from a Discovery, in that fitment the turbo and down pipe come very close to the passenger footwell and I wrapped the manifold, turbo and down pipe with that fiberglass heat bandage. It was very effective, after 10 minutes idling you could hold the manifold and on decent runs there was no heat transfer.

Obviously I wouldn't consider that stuff on mine, I think it was fine for the application on the Landie but I wouldn't want to use it on a performance engine like ours............

Stef, the difference is massive, cant give you exact figures yet but lifting the bonnet after a run you dont get the blast of heat like you would normally
I've also noticed that i dont get any pops and bangs on the overun now,now if i'm right, because the ceramic keeps the heat inside it escapes out of the exhaust quicker hence no unburnt fuel to pop and bang
It doesnt keep it cold enough to hold the exhaust(i tried....ouch)
According to Zircotec it reduces under bonnet temps by 33%.........the heat difference is very noticable

Need to make a press tool first though as want recess fit as per OE.

Took a bit longer than I wanted, but got there in the end.

Hoping to reach my end goals sometime 2020 ! smile

That looks brilliant! You must we properly chuffed with that!
All the way through or or just top skin?

(I went for a slightly more holistic approach - another angle smile)

You purchase a complete fibreglass bonnet like that and fit it in place of your own.

Through both skins.

I don't think there's anyone who does not recognise your car from the vents alone ! smile
Seen them close up, very bold to say the least.

For those that have fitted vents, do you have any problems with rain water dripping
into the engine bay ? (I made some ali drip trays, but don't want to fit them if the
water is not generally an issue)

I did think of the drip tray approach and attaching to them to the underside of the bonnet (in fact suggested it to Stevie Hynde and he did that to his bonnet) but in the end I made some engine covers which work perfectly:
