Does yours?

For some reason whenever our puppy gets something new, he insists on parading about with it and shoving it in to the faces of the other dogs and on our laps.

Anyone know why they do this?

The others will take their prizes and saunter off somewhere, but not the puppy...

Our one year old male cocker does this he parades around in circles like a peacock. Whereas our border terrier will just run off and hide somewhere that she cant be found.

Our cocker does this though she does it with leaves, twigs, whatever as she has no toys. Its like she is saying "Look! I found this! Isn't it the best thing EVER! Do you want it? Have you seen it? LOOK!"

Yes, that's the type.

I don't know why he does it. Quite often also will deposit whatever he has onto my lap then nudge it too.

They do it to initiate play or to get some kind of attention. We just take it off her and say thank you. Sometimes we give her it back but most of the time it goes in the now over flowing coal bucket which is full of crap the dog has brought us.

What breed is it? Some, like spaniels and labs, are more prone to this behavior as its in their nature to retrieve items.

He is a Livestock Guardian Dog. But he likes to play fetch too at times! He is a muppet really. BUT if there is a threat, then he turns into Guardian very efficiently.

Our 8 year old Retreiver still does this. I think it's their way of letting you know that they want to play.

Our 7 month old GSD does this. It's intensely annoying when I'm trying to work. Confiscating it usually leads to him finding something else to shove in my lap.
