Question is, Mr Jeremy Sir,will it change back? How many people need to ask?
Nothing to do with me! You'll need to ask the PistonHeads/Haymarket folks, I'm just a user like the rest of you. smile

I would be interested in stats on number of posts since and page views.

Politicians don't listen to us but you can!

That has been asked and skirted around.

single forum please

If I want detailed technical stuff there are other places to go - model specific areas on PCGB, Tipec, Rennlist, or maybe even workshop manuals smile

I'm not a 911 owner, never have been, so have never ventured onto 911 specific forums. I liked browsing the PH Porsche forum as I saw things I wouldn't otherwise have seen - both old and new models, racing stuff, CGT etc...

Please change it back to a single forum and quick for all the reasons already listed. Using the forum(s) as they are now is way too much of a faff and I rarely bother any more. I can't be the only one either...

Single forum please. This new format is rubbish and illogical

Member since 2004. I'd prefer it reverted back to a single forum.

It looks devastatingly unanimous.

Further to a separate thread Garlick is welcoming comments & thoughts on the recent changes to the forum.

Garlick said:
As I say, and being honest, it was more something I want to see work (to reinforce our dominance of the sports car community) as opposed to reacting to any specific request. I see other forums carrying the more technical and specific content and could see no reason why we couldn't accommodate that too.

We tweaked the supercar section a little to reach a compromise, and I'm happy to tweak here too. I don't want to restrict Porsche to one area, but I am happy to listen to how it might work to achieve a mix of what I'd like and what you guys need.
On the back of that does anyone have sany suggestions as to what they would like to see?
"What i'd like..." ? Why is that relevant if overwhelmingly its not what the customers like?

I have advocated a single forum on every occasion it has been discussed. My view remains the same.

I look at a single page now, the Porsche General page. I don't look at individual sub forums so any technical help I might have been able to offer will have been lost to those sections.

There is simply too much cross over to break it up. Boxsters & Caymans share technical issues with 911s. Owners of 911s often have Cayennes, owners of newer cars often have older cars in the garage, people doing a track day in a GT share the Tarmac with more mundane Porsches.

By all means have a separate forum to discuss which curtain fabric best compliments the latest range of BHS chenille toilet surround drip mats but keep the Porsches together.

What Henry said. I only look at the Porsche General page via favorites now.

So, Mr Garlick will probably become more entrenched in his split to save face now, but it takes a bigger man to admit a mistake.

If it doesn't change back soon then i'm going to hand in my PH membership !!!

Me too. Next year I will be cancelling my direct debit!

Just a "Devil's advocate" comment. I guess we all have to accept that the PH employees have a job to do, whereas we only have to choose to comment on a forum that's paid for by adverts, not by subscriptions.

I don't think it's fair to single out the people who run the site personally, Steve Singh, they probably have a difficult enough job to do already. redcard

I too dislike the current format, too much navigating around. It's also ruined the supercar section for me too, way too disjointed. I use the forum much less as a result.

Why not set up a poll instead of running an 'n' page thread about it,and having to trawl through all the answers?
Either way it seems pretty unanimous.

Poll has already been held, 75% of posters don't like the new format.

This thread was supposed to be for feedback for further tweaks hehe

Not getting on here often, I've had fun catching up with the threads and could not believe so much commentary has been expended on this. Really can't see the problem...Old structure was fine and so is the New structure...

Imagine if Porsche took the same approach ... we would have 'half missed some great cars & features ;-)

Just leave it as is and concentrate on the "real" things that matter..like getting out more and driving :-)

Ultimately, each of us can vote with our feet and move on elsewhere, but Hey, life's far tooooooo short.
