TR6 Steering

Having resolved my tyre issues, I am continuing to refine the TR6 for more regular use and find that the steering is very light and lacking in feel, to me this feels like insufficient castor angle, I don't know if this is normal as I haven't driven another example, but would like to increase the stability/feel of the steering if possible.

Before I got the car the trunnions were replaced, is it possible to fit these to the wrong sides of the car and would this reduce the castor angle?

If not what is the best way of gaining a bit more castor?

Light steering and Tr6s are not a normal combination! It could be worth doing a search over on the TR Register forum, as there is a lot of info there. One example is this thread, which may help a bit:

What tyre pressures are you running?

Good question, in an attempt to get a bit more feel currently 24 psi all round. Ultimate grip is good but very little feedback through the steering. Hoping to get it right for next week's sunday service.

Are you using the original bus-size steering wheel? Going for a smaller one is a good start. TR6 suspension is a whole world of contention and argument but if you're willing to spend a few bob and like spanner twirling then they can be made to steer - and handle - very nicely indeed. I fitted the Revington TR6 integrated suspension kit to mine and it is tranformed, makes 6s with the original set up (that I've driven subsequently) feel like porridge.
