Ah, I have a pot like that too!

Think it's sorted thanks - aim was to get shot of the redundant stuff, which is in the pot now smile
The shiny one is the bung for the tvr sender

Attacked chassis with angle grinder
New gearbox mounts in (thanks Ian at sport motive)
Starter motor in (not as easy as it sounds!)
2x water temp sender in
Oil pressure sender in
Oil temp sender in
Fuel rail connected
Brake vacuum connected
Steam ports planned out and 2x an4 connectors on order
New live cables and earths made up
Exhaust route planned
Can't decide what I'm doing for rad, thinking of going in the nose cone with it to free up room
Can't decide on going steel or alloy prop

General planning, smoked fags, chin waged a bit

Removed 'spare' coolant temp gauge sender from top of inlet manifold and replaced with new SPA one (straight swap); removed TVR gauge sender from front of manifold, then brass hex bar extension piece, and then steel adaptor. Identified adaptor/manifold thread as M19 x 1.5, established not going to be easy to find a hydraulic bung (judging by ebay and Google) so tapped centre hole of adaptor to M10 and sealed with stainless bung and crush washer. Reinstalled adaptor having saved about two ounces of surplus metal and got rid of offensive lump smile

Confused Alex in process! hehe
What is the hydraulic bung ?

Alex, I was just checking out your profile and see you have rr your car a couple of times, where did you have this done, is it local to cambridge? I'm told peter Baldwin is expensive.

Peter Baldwin is a lovely guy, but his rolling road is about 20% generous, so the whole exercise is pointless. He told me my standard 4 litre was producing 265 bhp, for example.

There's one at Setchey, near Kings Lynn, and one at Norwich. I have also heard there's one around Northampton.

M19?????? I think you may have needed help from your mate the plumber wink

I'm pretty sure the manifold is BSP front (& rear if you have it), but the steel adapter then extra brass adapters for sender have several variations it seems to me from experience. I have a feeling LR supplied as a bung originally & TVR drilled + tapped for whatever thread their brass adapter had at the time IYSWIM.

You may well be right as that makes far more sense... But the thread measures 18.97 mm across, is parallel. sided, and meshes full length with a 1.5 mm pitch sample.

How much help do you think a plumber not familiar with a hydraulic bung might be? wink

Had a play with the throttle cable after finding out that I only get 86% on the TPS, turns out that whoever put the throttle cable on put the clip through the hole the wrong way and it was hitting a bolt on the mechanism before fully opening rolleyes

96% now driving

Also just changed the alternator belt for a 7PK 2081 as it was the closest they had in stock, seems to fit fine.

So you made a potential 11% gain in max power output by fiddling with a cable. Good work!

I can recommend RGS Motorsport at Wellingborough, they're a good bunch with a Dyno Dynamics 1500 HP RR. They're making a good effort with local car clubs, particularly TVR. Give Brian a call, feel free to mention my name if you like (shouldn't add too much to the price !!!)

Today I pensioned off the legendary JE alternator mount banana bracket. No more will people point and laugh, and knowingly assert 'that's the wrong way round...!' There is a shiny stainless turnbuckle now doing belt-tensioning duty smile

Yesterday and today I did:
Some de-rusting on the chassis and various parts

Undoing bolts that haven't been touched in 17 years isn't much fun...

Over the weekend I have had even more damper problems.

Intended to fit the new exhaust after work but found that the 3 rubber mounts between the tray and the exhaust were badly perished so ordered new ones. Also noticed some of the chassis paint has worn away where the lip on the tray has rubbed against the chassis so cleaned it up and repainted. fortunately the power coating underneath was still in good shape.

Just wondered which way up the exhaust mounting tray should be fitted. It was previously fitted with the lip facing which dug into the chassis rail and rubbed away the paint. presumably it can be fitted with the lip pointing downwards?

Probably do a bit more chassis cleaning tomorrow as noticed a few chips where the paint has come away, power coating in good shape all round through. Also tempted to clean of all the wax oil in the visible areas on the chassis and the wishbones as I hate the way it picks up dirt.

Yours was fitted incorrectly, the flat of the tray fits against the chassis with the lip facing downwards.

Help please smile

How many of these do I need for the centre section that hold the exhaust off of that tray. That's just one isn't it, they go together to make an egg shape?

Exhaust mount Part No TVR S7007

Been on my to do list for weeks now. Lazy rolleyes
