Bulletin No. 104
19/8/98
4.5 and 4.2 Cerberas
Front Crank Seal

Dear Dealer,
When replacing the front crank seal part number E2793 on both 4.2 and 4.5
engines beware that in some cases the needle roller bearing that carries the A/C
pinion sleeve can clapse, so before replacing the pinion sleeve please check the
bearing. Any problems please contact Paul Giddings in our engine department.

Cerbera 4.2 and 4.5
Oil Pressure Capillary Hose

It has been found that a few Cerberas have left the factory without the oil pressure gauge pipe being
sufficiently tightened. It is important that all the cars on the list on page 2 are found and the tightness of
the pipe checked and rectified quickly to minimise any risks of an oil leak into the passenger
compartment.
The nylon pipe runs from the back of the oil pressure / water temperature gauge to the bulkhead, and it
is only the end that screws on to the bulkhead connector on the underside of the bulkhead, that may
be loose. This end is found in the passenger compartment above the pedal box (see photo). Access
can be gained without removal of any parts, simply trace vertically up from the clutch pedal and the
connector should be easily found. A 1/4 Whitworth spanner will be needed to tighten the nut on the
pipe. If the nut is first loosened and retightened to finger tight only, a further 1/3 to 1/2 turn with the
spanner should provide a sufficient torque.
The warranty code for the work is:
I93/CB Tighten Dual Gauge Pipe. Time - 0.25 Hours

Bulletin 103 - fuseboard 108
As indicated in Technical Bulletin No. 103, due to low production levels of the TVR
fuseboard cars with chassis numbers ending 1863 upto 2281. Which were built from July of
this year were fitted with Audi fuseboards.
It has been brought to our attention that the fuse diagram printed in the Cerbera Owners
handbook for 4.2 and 4.5 wasn’t altered when the fuse board change took place.
If any of these Cerbera chassis numbers relates to your customers please ensure that the
enclosed pages from the handbook are forwarded onto them.

Dampers
118
Dear Dealer,
From 1 May 1999 the earlier Cerbera V8 dampers, red in colour and part numbers C0173 front and
D0113 rear will no longer be available. Instead use the current Cerbera V8 dampers, in pairs, black
in colour and part numbers C0203 front and D0122 rear. It is perfectly acceptable to fit a new pair
at one axle end of the car whilst retaining the earlier pair at the other axle. Do not mix on the same
axle.
Always fit dampers in pairs, unless the existing units have done less than 500 miles whereby it is then
acceptable to just swap one unit. When ordering new dampers, of any sort for any reason, please
always order new damper bushes (C0092) to suit. It is not good practice to press old ones out to
use in new units.
Please note that the Cerbera 6 dampers are also black and the fronts are identical externally to
the V8 units, do not mix them up as the internal valving is very different. The rears have the circlip
groove lower to accommodate the adjustable lower spring seat, as well as different internal
valving. All dampers have the part number stamped at the base of the tube. The Cerbera 6 front
damper is C0407 and the rear D0337.
In general please ensure that the correct procedure is used when tightening any pivot bolt that
locates a bonded rubber suspension bush, be it damper or wishbone bolts. Always perform the
final torqueing at ride height. If the car is in the air and the suspension at full droop, then tightening
the pivot bolts will cause premature wear of the bushes, raise the ride height of the car and reduce
the ride quality alarmingly. Ensure that the pivot bolt is only nipped up before the car is lowered
onto it's wheels; if the Nyloc friction can turn the bolt then that is a good indication that the bush
will align itself at ride height. The damper bolts (1/2" UNF) should be torqued to 45 lb.fts. and the
wishbone pivot bolts (7/16" UNF) to 40 lb.fts.

Window hitting ‘a’ post trim
130
F.A.O All Service Managers,
A new chip has been created which should prevent the window winding up before the door is fully
shut, stopping the window from hitting the ‘a’ post trim and causing damage. The new software
ensures that the door has been fully closed for at least 1.5 seconds. It is important that the initial
door pin switch setting is correct, i.e. that the window does not rise when he window is on the first
catch.
The new chip is part no:- MEO417, named ‘IN 50. ASM’. This should replace the existing chip
labelled IC3 in the door control unit (this is the one closest to the 17-way connector on the PCB).
The new chip is retro fittable to all Cerbera models. It will only change the door closure/window
wind up function.
MEO417 is a per-programmed ME0067 and can only be used in the Cerbera door ECU ME0154.

Cerbera V8 Oil Hoses
157
Dear Service Manager,
As from chassis number 1272 onwards all 4.2 and 4.5 Cerberas have their oil pipe size increased from
1/2 inch to 5/8 inch bore hose. The orginal hose part numbers remain the same, although the new
main pressure hose from the engine cooler (E2932) is now re-routed around the back of the sump
and suspended using 2 x E3699 support brackets and 2 x H0203 25mm diameter P clips.
Dealers who have had oil pressure problems especially on cars that are used on track days should
upgrade to the new specification pipes.
A retro kit of the following parts is available from our parts department.
Kit Parts List
E2932 Engine oil cooler hose 1
E2807 Oil cooler filter hose 1
E2809 Filter to engine hose 1
E3699 Oil pipe support bracket 2
H0203 25mm P Clip 2
W0013 M8 x 20 set screw 2
W0044 M8 nyloc nut 2
W0014 M8 Form A washer 4
Fitting Instructions
1 Pipes E2807 and E2809 are directly interchargeable.
2 E2932 is routed differently and requires the use of H0203 P Clips bolted to E3699 support
bracket.
3 On the O/S of the engine the support bracket is mounted using the PAS Pump mounting bolt
which passes through the welded PAS Pump support bracket. ( see pic 1)
4 Similary the N/S is mounted using an existing bell housing bolt (see pic 2)
5 The pipe then runs alon
g the side of the engine block to the front of the chassis and is
secured with cable ties as shown in pic 3.

Tuscan Type 18 inch wheels
158
Dear Service Manager,
Tuscan Speed Six 18 & 16 inch wheels are NOT available as an option on Cerberas. If a dealer
purchases Tuscan Spec. wheels via our parts Department, please be aware that they will only fit
Cerberas from chassis number 1325 onwards.
Due to the spec of Tuscan wheels, if fitted to early Cerberas wishbone fouling will occur.
ALL Cerbera steering racks have now been modified by extending the “Lock Stops” by 4mm as per
Tuscan. Correct specification wheel nuts must also be fitted if changed from orginal wheels.

Tuscan Speed Six & Cerbera
Chassis Developments May 2001
183
Dear Service Manager,
This is a brief explanation of the chassis developments that have occurred during the month of
May affecting Tuscans and Cerberas. For each model there is a description of the changes and a
list of new parts.
Tuscan models have been the most affected, with modifications to the front suspension and
steering geometry, as well as braking components on the Tuscan Red Rose and ‘S’ chassis.
Cerbera modifications are limited to brake components and front uprights only.
Tuscan
Geomtry changes
Front suspension and steering geometry changes have been introduced on the Tuscan chassis,
from chassis number 1296. The changes include a modification to the pivot point of the upper front
wishbone, a change in the position of the upper ball joint on the front upright and modifications to
the length of the steering rack bar, along with the height of the steering rack mounts. This has
meant changing the wishbone mounting plate work on the chassis frame and the length of the
upper front wishbone. Visually the geometry changes do not radically change the appearance of
the new components, so to aid identification, holes have been added to the middle of all the
wishbone mounting plates on the front of the chassis and to the plate work for the longer upper
front wishbones. The purpose of these modifications is to make the cars less nervous and to give
the steering greater feel.

Chassis Developments June 2001
184
Dear Service Manager,
The front suspension and steering geometry changes that were introduced last month onto the
Tuscan chassis, will now also be introduced onto all Cerbera models. On V8 Cerberas from chassis
1417 and on the Speed Six from chassis 1432.
Once again, the new specification chassis frames and wishbones will be able to be distinguished
by identification holes added to the plate work at the front of the chassis and to the wishbones
themselves. In fact the same components as used on the Tuscan, are being used on the Cerbera.
The following tables list the new parts being used for both V8’s and Speed Six cars, the only
differences between the two chassis types being the chassis frame itself and the steering rack.

Rear Tyre Fouling
186
To All Service Managers,
It has come to our attention that in some circumstances, Cerbera’s that were on the old style
18”wheels and then fitted with the new “Spider” type 18” wheels, are suffering from the rear tyres
rubbing on the inner rear wheel arches.
To overcome this problem it is necessary to carry out the following modifications;
Jack up the rear of the vehicle or put it on a ramp and remove the rear wheels.
Using a sanding disc, sand down the inside of the wheel arch from 45 degrees either side of the
vertical, so that the thickness of the wheel arch flange is gradually reduced to 10mm thickness at
the top of the wheel arch (Diagrams attached for reference).
If there are any cavities when you have finished sanding, these can be filled from the outside using
a sandable glass fibre repair paste (eg u-pol fibral) and then a filler to finish.
When it is finished and smooth, spray with a matt black paint and refit the wheels.

Peter, this is very interesting - thanks.

The last Bulletin - '191 Change of Fusebox' mentions a Relay list which is
not shown. Is there a bit missing?
