Hi chaps,
I've been offered a fantastic looking deep red Marcos Mantula reg H977 BTU I'm waiting for the owner to find the V5 papers, the cars been stored for many years over in Belgium...

Does anyone know the car, or how I can check its UK history...

Lastly there must be a chassis plate somewhere ? just dont find one... any pointers..

Where do these beast rust ?

in terms of rust they are very similar to other cars built like this. The first signs really show up on the outer lower cill tubes. Also the members which go from the cill to the tunnel at the lower back of the front wheel arches. Obviously check thourougly as it can be very expensive to repair.

Chassis plates can normally be found under the bonnet on the bulkhead, the top of the footwells or even on the area the bonnet closes onto. Rory at Marcos Heritage has the build files on these cars but may need a chassis number rather than registration. The guys on the Marcos Forum www.marcosforum.org may also be able to help. I believe there is someone on there with some kind of register.

The chassis plate for the late cars is in the engine bay, drivers side, below the suspension top mount area.

Give Rory a call with the last 4 numbers of the chassis number and he will know the build details and spec as a minimum, depends who serviced it after that.
