IGN were invited to a 20 minute preview screening of Godzilla yesterday and have posted up a glowing review on their website.
I can't link to it as I'm stuck behind a firewall at work.
Apparently they got to see 5 different scenes from the film, including a nuclear powerplant disaster, the 'planes falling from the sky' scene, the parachute jump from the trailer and another bit.
They said the audience gave very positive reactions and it looks like it's going to be very, very good
They were also made privy to a very big and exciting part of the story, but have been sworn to secrecy by the director. The comment IGN made was that it made the film "400% more awesome"...
My guess? Godzilla plus four additional monsters! That or the film will have King Ghidorah in it.
I'm too damn excited! I've got to watch Godzilla vs Gigan tonight.

Looks awesome, can't wait to see it.
To my shame, I never actually saw the original until a few months ago. For a series that I always saw as campy fun I was amazed at just how dark and depressing it was, with Godzilla acting more as a force of nature than a typical monster. Looks like the new one will be veering towards that style

If you have seen the Wondercon footage thats leaked, all I can say is WOW. I think a lot of people are going to be very surprised.
