Folks, this may be of interest. I've just joined ADAC.

It may be too late for you, but I have just joined ADAC, commencing 1st Jan 2014 - cost is Eu 79.5 for a year and that is for self and wife.

Superb service, English speaking girl in ADAC (she sounded lovely ) and so very easy to get cover.

Number to call is 0049 89 22 22 22. I will get an English membership pack with all the relevant numbers to call.
Couldn't be easier.

I have read that ADAC will only cover people with a German address - NOT SO. They cover all European countries and their residents. Several folks on here have commented on how impressed they were when they had to make use of the service.

The website says plusmembership for a single person is 79.50, for a primary and partner member it's 98.70

Is this incorrect?

Thanks, I've just sent them an email.

Their website isn't very clear, it doesn't explain the difference between the ADAC single membership and ADAC single Plusmembership

Go for the plus membership, thats the 79 euro one.

Here is a link to the pdf showing the membership options:

German efficiency! There setvice is just as good when you break down, after I phoned them the first time they insisted on calling me back to save my phone bill, then they rang me every 10 mins with updates on where the recovery truck was!

But is this for one person? €98,70 for two people? Is that correct? It contradicts the OP.

Edit, sorry I've reread the document again! Partner membership is for some additional insurance.

I am confused as it says:

All-round cover: ADACPlus membership
  • all benefits of the classic ADAC membership
  • conventional benefits also abroad: breakdown and accident protection in Europe
  • additional strong benefits: medical and vehicle repatriation, provision of a rental car, onward travel by air or rail
  • valuable safety for your partner and family:
all ADACPlus benefits and services for yourself, your partner
and underage children

Only €79.50 per year

So the above also applies to your partner as well i.e. you dont have to be in the car with them if they have a problem?

As then it says you can also get:
All-round cover for two: ADACPlus partner package
  • all benefits and services as above
  • your added advantage: ADAC en-route cover, a combination of three insurances: accident emergency benefits, travel contract legal expenses cover and international travel liability cover (not valid for motor third party liability claims)
On Page 2 of the PDF it suggests a 'partner' package is a bolt on to get the cover extended to your partner but that already seem to apply to the €79.50 option?

I agree.

It sounds like the €79,50 covers both of us though, I think. Not sure if I require the additional insurance cover of the 'partner' package.

I've used them too, in Germany and in the UK, recommended

after my missus crashed our car, we got a free hire car for a week while I sorted a new one, that alone was worth a couple of years payments

Cool, form completed. Went for the full works, can't go wrong at €104 (including the booking fee!) for the two of us, across Europe. I was just about to pay £100 for just me with another company!
