In 70k miles over two Outbacks I have had I think 3 or 4 punctures over the last 4.25 years (none of which could be repaired), none in my D3 I had for five painful months and two in the 530d I had before that for 18 months, one in the 15-months of A6 before that, one or two in the 525d before that (2.75 years) one in the A4 I had before that for six months - but none in the previous two cars (five years). Wife has had two punctures in her XC90 in the last two years. So in the last couple of years between us we seem to be running at a puncture every 15k miles... There is no public transport within a mile of home and if I do start doing more miles it will be a 40-miles each way on country lanes, motorway and urban roads. So not having a spare tyre is a non-starter for me even if it works for you

Bloody hell - I get fewer punctures than that mountain biking. Are all your local roads made of nails and metal swarf???

Umm, no, not quite! But bad enough, it seems!
