After some advice about how best to increase power from the above car, not after silly figures or after spending too much either, just enough gains to make me smile a bit on my daily drives.

A remap would be the easiest and (most likely) cheapest way forward.

Thyere's many companies that offer ECU tuning from £250 upward and the most expensive ones are not always the best (normally using old maps). One thing to remember is that the 2.5 T5 block in your car isn't actually a T5 block but a remodelled 2.5T block and has a reputation for splitting the bores if pushed hard, due to the thinner bore liners. As you said you just want a simple smiles per gallon increase, the remap will do you fine.

Some of the most well known tuners are...

RICA Engineering
MTE
BSR
H.L.M.
Shark
There's also a couple of custom tuners on T5D5 who have produced some good maps but I'm not sure if they've developed a may for the ME9 engines yet.

I have an Autotech map on my 2003 T5 and I'm more than happy with it (279 bhp from a car with 208000 miles on it smile )

There maps available for the auto variants too, they usually have a torque limiter in 1st gear (and sometimes 2nd) to protect the drivetrain.

Full exhaust systems are available from Ferrita, Kalmar Union sell them and they provide a good gain and a mental noise to boot.

They can be remapped for decent gains without supporting mods too.

If in the future you want to go mental you will need the block modifying to prevent the liners splitting as the block was originally intended for a smaller bore than the 2.5 engine and the increased bore size can make it vulnerable. Big power for that though, well over 300bhp.

A good remap with cat back exhaust will see you right.
