So long as you accept that for the first five minutes he is going to do his 'constitutional' and sniff the 'morning papers' he is fine and comes back on command pretty good. Some are better than others though, most are pretty single minded and do what they want when they want off the lead, so be warned. Very loving dogs at home though.

This is poor old Milly who we had to have put to sleep at the age of 15. Collapsed about three weeks back with vestibular syndrome and I found her screaming in pain at 6am last Monday. She was nearly gone by the time the vet arrived.

We all sat with her on the bed as she went on her way. What made it worse is that Sonny climbed into her grave and spread himself on top of her and kept washing her face.

We all miss our dear, dear girl so much cry

That's terrible news, sorry to hear.
I can bring myself to tears already thinking about 'The Day' and he's only 18 months! Lol.
He's the best thing I've ever bought smile EVER.

Easy, just take the wife down to the local dog's home, she'll love it (I think they'll take a spouse in part ex?)

Since Dern has put Remy on here, I'll introduce you to what we hope will be his walking buddy, when he's settled in. This is Rosie.

As a pup.

And now last week at 17 months old. Not impressed with a chest lead.
She's a Border Jack. She mum managed to jump the 6ft fence by climbing a tree and got amorous with the log legged jack Russell 4 doors down. Magic happened and we found her on Pets For Homes. She's our first dog and as Dern will know, I was not a dog liking person, but she is great company, a good obedient dog (currently, although a teenage streak is there !) and very, very good with small kids and the cats. As a dog goes, she has cost us more money than I ever imagined, with changing cars and vet bills. She broke her leg at 10 weeks and was rebuilt by Fitzpatrick Referrals, as on TV. They are amazing people and lucking the bill was on insurance, although we had to pay the £3k up front !!

Usually found like this after her walks

I think that, once you've had a dog (or five...) it is nigh on impossible to ever be without them throughout your life...

From hero to zero. Sebs first cone of shame. Bloody hilarious watching him walk round with a 3ft head. Like watching the QEII turn around. hehe

Very sad to hear, 15 is a good age to take comfort from.
We had a similar experience with one of our old cockers at 5am. Glad your vets offered the at home service, we had that too, only hope they keep providing it.
