Hello all, I'm currently not a Wedge owner but will be actively looking in the Spring once I've sold my current none TVR toy. I'm after a 350i. Couple of questions but does a workshop manual exist for the car that can be purchased/downloaded for such things as torque wrench settings etc and also is there a list of parts available with a cross reference as to what other cars used them? I had a TR6 for 16 years and had a fantastic parts list that cross referenced to all other cars that the various parts were used on. Great for scrap yard hunting. Many thanks.

Hi Mate..You will ideally need two manuals..One that covers the RV8 and a Steve heath Wedge workshop manual..Which is becoming quite difficult to find thus leading to high prices..Amazon have one there for £34...Also asking on here whenever something arises is good as there as a lot of knowledge people on here.
Some parts are easily sourced and some not so but there always seems to be a solution.
There is a parts list on this forum that has and is still being created by people that own Wedges...Before you go looking for one ask on here as there are some pointers to help you look for something that doesn't need too much work from the offset...you will find this forum to be ..Mad..Funny..Helpful..And sometimes a bit steamy but its a good place in general to be...You will be welcomed I'm sure...Cheers...Ziga

Thanks Ziga for the speedy response. I'll order the manual up later today so it's ready and waiting. I have been following the Wedge forum for a while and the info posted appears to be invaluable. I'll let you know progress on the new purchase when it happens. The wife insists I sell my current toy before getting the TVR. What's the point having a double garage and decent drive if they're not full of cars? Bah humbug.

Give it time mate..There's nothing wrong with owning two TVR's..Or 3...4...5...6 or even more!..Perhaps 2 x V8's..One each.biggrin

Welcome and good luck with your search for a wedge. As Zig says not a bad bunch in here. This may also come in handy.

For the V6: Haynes Granada Mk2 (or late Capri) for the engine and gearbox
For the V8: Haynes Rover SD1 for engine/ box and fuel injection, plus steering column on most Wedges (RangeRover manual will also get you the engine and injection system)
Haynes Jag XJ6/XJS for the diff and rear brakes
Haynes Cortina or Granada for the front suspension and brakes (components differ very slightly but the pictures will look the same), Cortina for one version of the PAS rack.
Haynes TR7 for the early steering column and the headlamp motors on most models.

Oh, and www.wedgeneering.co.uk may also be of use wink

Good stuff so far. For the nearest thing TVR produced to a workshop manual, there is the TVR parts manual, which contains exploded diagrams of most areas of the car, and a few different models to boot. I understand this may be available from the club if they get the rights to reproduce it, otherwise there are scanned-in copies on CD ROMs or even emailable, lurking around the dark recesses of the internet....

Also see the FAQ thread that I just bumped which has hands on experience of some common faults and how they were fixed.

Many thanks to you all for the info. Wedge manual now purchased via Amazon - thanks Ziga. I'll get busy and pull together as much info as possible in readiness.... Any Wedgie owners over in the Herefordshire area? I see that the owners club has a Shropshire group so will probably join that also. Shelsley Walsh is just up the road so I'll keep my eye out there. I did attend the last one of the season with TVR's very well represented. Mate has an S2 which he came along in. Says it used to be red but unless he T'cuts it weekly it usually is a lovely shade of pale pink!

... which, to be fair, is only worth the paper it's printed on, without factory and dealer backup. I got a copy when I had my Tasmin back in about '96 and I can't recall the last time it was of any use whatsoever.

Wooly, current very sensible, very practical and slightly boring toy is BMW 323 convertible, 1997. Seemed a sensible option after the TR6 which I'd had for 16 years. Young family required 4 seats. 2.5 litre straight six, totally waterproof electric soft top, brilliant heater, every gadget a modern car has, goes like stink and cheap as chips to buy and run (32mpg if I'm not being a hooligan). Had it 3 years and can count on one hand the number of times all four of us have been in it at the same time. It's usually just myself and my son. Therefore decided to go for what I've wanted for the last 13 years since selling the 6. Cheers KK
