Which gearbox and diff for rover v8???

Currently building a lotus seven kit car and am fitting a rover v8 tuned to around 275 bhp. Rev limit will be around 7000rpm. I am going for as little torque as I can get and a higher rev limit. The question is what gearbox and diff should I use. I don't understand enough about ratios to get it right so can you help?

Gearbox wise the LTT77 is out as it is a land rover box and will feel terrible. So from what I can find, I either use the R380 which is a much better box or the Borg Warner T5 box if I can find one cheap enough. Bearing these two in mind what diff could I use? I want the car the also have LSD. Wheel wise I guess 15" or 16" max. I had a look on ebay and found a Nissan 350z LSD diff for £95. Would this be a good option or should I look at something totally different?

The dif depends on what housing you are willing to fab up mounts for... I think your best option is to find anything that will stand up to the torque you will be throwing at it (which shouldnt be hard) that will easily fit your setup/needs and put on a new gear for your desired ratio.

As for your driveline, there are many shops that will fab up a driveline for your specific application.

A Sierra diff will do the job, also comes in LSD flavour.

And you think an R380 or T5 is going to feel any better than an LT77 ??

Nothing much wrong with the shift on an LT77, and they will be cheaper to fit to the engine than any T5

But for a lightweight vehicle, the T5 or a Toyota W-sereis would make more sense to try and retain some lightness where possible

Box also depends how much you're willing to spend to have it up and running. Using a box that doesnt have readily available bellhousings etc...will of course bump the price up considerably.

Maybe consider a TVR set up with T5 box all available fairly easy.
