Thanks - I thought you'd be able to. And yes, Converse work well for me - I also have big feet.

Only hurdle now is the wait...

Yes, the car was in race mode.

You certainly can heel and toe, but I find it quite footwear dependant. The thinner the sole, the better.
If you stop engine off in race does it start up in Race ?

Yes it does... it resumes in whatever setting you were last using.

See what you mean about the flat-4 similarity to the noise it makes.

I've got a price now and provisionally ordered on business lease for solid white paint, 5 door and DSG smile

I'm tempted by the adaptive chassis control option but thats going to put the price up quite a bit - is it worth getting the ACC?
Its mainly around town driving I'll be doing with very very little motorways.

I already want to add the winter pack and rear side airbags so want to keep the monthly fee as low as possible.

Just out of curiosity, is it cost effective to have it as a business lease and then pay BIK tax? I'd have thought the tax would be more than the cost of a personal lease!

Anyone heard the plug & play Helix sound system upgrade? ( I hear your spare wheel is replaced by a subwoofer & amp, which piggybacks a signal on the current speaker wiring, making everything much louder with a bit more clarity) ??

I was really keen on Dynaudio, but it's not available until November or something and I'm due to take delivery if my R in July.

For £395 + fitting wondered if this setup would be worth it. No spare wheel of course, but that's what the AA/RAC or VW roadside assistance are for!!

Comments appreciated, cheers,

Trip

Problem with the plug and play audio system is it's a dealer fit item (rather than factory fit) and involves removing and refitting bits of trim. I'm not sure I'd want to give my dealer that sort of responsibility for fear it would come back with rattles etc.

It's getting good write ups on the R forum, I've not heard the standard system but can't imagine it being too bad, don't know if I'd buy it for a lease car either!

The standard system is perfectly adequate to my ears...

I've got a 6Gb SD card plugged into the glovebox, the iPhone with iTunes, plus DAB radio, so I'm pretty well covered.

To be fair though, I'd never buy the dealer retrofit system, I'd rather give a proper car audio specialist £1000 than give a dealer £500.

Get your car, engage race mode, turn off the stereo!

Does the car play podcasts on the iPhone?

Same here regarding paying for a dealer fit, so much better out there for the money

I couldn't get the price anywhere near what I'm paying on a personal lease as missed out on the earlier deals doing the rounds so in one sense, yes its worth paying a bit extra in tax if I'm getting a car much cheaper than it should be.

The main point for me is that I'm in the process of getting another mortgage and having no personal debt such as credit cards, leases/PCP's etc makes a HUGE difference in the mortgage process as the banks are far stricter than they used to be and the car/lease is on the company rather than me personally.

Good point :-) !

Stock should be fine I suppose. It's just that it's 4 x 20W rated ( I don't know if that's RMS?! ) , I'm coming from a corsa to this ( yes - BIG jump!) , but I do have an Alpine head unit in that which is 4 x 50W RMS and it vastly improved the sound quality (albeit only with stock speakers). I do have an infinity amp which is rated 4 x 125W RMS, but as others have said, maybe not a good idea to start pulling things apart and playing around on a new lease car - just in case?!

Uh oh I need help. Seems I have a choice to make before 5pm on my order. I can have...

Standard Manual 3dr with metallic paint and Prets for £307.00 per month on a 6+23 10K per annum.

OR

Standard DSG 3dr with metallic paint for £328.00 per month on a 6+23 12K per annum.

Both fully maintained from G2L BTW.

I am worried I will go over my 10K a bit so would love the extra 2K miles BUT do I want DSG or the larger different wheels??

HELP!
Hi is this deal still about?! cheers.

Before you get too worried calculate how much those extra 2000 miles will cost in excess mileage charges and compare against a quote for 12000 miles per annum.

In my case it was cheaper to go with a lower mileage lease and pay the excess charges, than it was to up the allowance on the lease.

I missed out on mine and G2L let someone else have it, as I was not sure what was happening with my commute.

So I'll wait until the next deal on something decent pops up. I know that I'll be livid when one of these passes by though.

Unless these deals come back. Which I doubt.

I'd not be so hasty, I feel there will be more deals end of this quarter, I got a quote from G2L, it's basic but was 320 p/m with 1900 down I believe?

I'm not after a super spec, just want keyless entry, white, DSG. After having leather in every car I've owned I fancy a cloth/alcantara mixer.
