Waiting for Phil to get back and see what I could get - ideally £250 a month would suit me at 8k miles... I could settle for Red but wouldn't mind something else - I think I can live with manual as well....still a lot of money to pay out for 2 years for a having a lovely car but we will do what we want to do
off the top of my head you should be able to get a 3 door manual with 7,000 miles, maintenance and metallic paint for around £250 a month inc vatwith regard to 'a lot of money to pay out' - my real rough man math will give you something to think about.
if you bought one
PCP
£9,286 + deposit = £12,276
final payment of £20,772.00
road tax - £320
servicing - £200
Tyres - £300
Total outlay £33,868
but add 2 year old golf r value as you own the car (£20,000)
Total outlay £13,868 for owning a Golf R for 24 months
Lease (maintained)
£5750 + deposit (1770) = £7520
road tax 0
servicing 0
tyres 0
TOTAL outlay - £7520

I needed 5 door, i wanted the security of full maintenance and i really wanted auto but thats the only things ive gone for, which brings me to £295a month inc vat which is personally as much as i could bring myself to paying - regardless of how much the car is worth.
Is that personal lease? Seems bloody cheap! 7080 all in (maintained / auto) who's that with please mate?Pixelpeep7r said:

totally get that, I guess my point was, you outlay £7520 in 2 years and at the end of it you are left with nothing. Two years of hopefully great driving with a fab car, but you then have to stack out another £2k deposit and monthly payments for another car.with regard to 'a lot of money to pay out' - my real rough man math will give you something to think about.

Given that you could take a loan for £7520, I guess at the end of two years, you would still have a car - probably worth about £3k just for example and you can still get from A-B. Guess it's swings and roundabouts and you are paying for having a swish new car for 2 years....

What's the chance of that car needing a repair within those two years. Then you've got MOT's etc.Given that you could take a loan for £7520, I guess at the end of two years, you would still have a car - probably worth about £3k just for example and you can still get from A-B. Ive just had word from Phil to say all the mid £250 deals are gone really - anything now is pretty much £290 upwards! Doh! Missed the boat..
The NVS deal is probably best around (if you can prove business mileage on a Personal lease) but that is likely to be pulled soon from what they told me!
It's down to the residual values of the car dropping already!

I was told that after the first year of my 2 year contract that there is a review which requires you to provide the mileage - if this was showing a higher level than that initially agreed then the rental for the 2nd year would be increased to the current rate for that annual mileage.
No idea whether this is in the agreement as I won't have reason to check it, hut some of you might want to see if there is any truth in it.

I don't think this is true.No idea whether this is in the agreement as I won't have reason to check it, hut some of you might want to see if there is any truth in it.

Arval contract states if the mileage is above or below 20% of estimated mileage, they reserve the right to amend the contract. How they find out I don't know. If its maintained they will obtain mileage from the service or tyre replacement. So maybe they will ask for mileage after year 1.

Your figures for the PCP option are incorrect, probably as you have not allowed for the initial discounted price. with regard to 'a lot of money to pay out' - my real rough man math will give you something to think about.

With a £1500 deposit it's. ( on the calc input this as £5245 which allows for a discount of £3745)
23x £305.59
+ £125 admin fee
Tax is only £180 as the first year is included.
That's £8833.57 plus whatever servicing costs. Plus it's for 10k miles per annum.
As for the car being worth £20k and you have to allow for that it makes no odds, if the car is actually worth less than your GFV then you just hand it back with nothing to pay if the car is within the fair wear and tear criteria paying any excess mileage. If it actually worth more (doubtful as that may seem) you may see some of your deposit back.
I've heard that the order tracker is broken too. I certainly hope so, cos my order has been shown as 'with the factory' ever since I placed it 5 weeks ago, but last week my dealer told me he had info that my car should be built next week. It all seems very strange as my experience with other manufacturers has been that they issue a 'build week' as soon as you place the order. My dealer emails me every Wednesday so I'm looking forward to what he has to say this week! Other than the dealers demo I've yet to see a new 'R' on the road. Does anyone have any info on how many have actually been delivered yet???

Mine has been updating, moved from in build all the way through to in the UK in the last two weeks, with Saturday being my latest update. Only thing i did notice was that my build week was put back a week, everything my tracker said was exactly the same as the info the dealer had, it's been very accurate for me, texts also always come at 8:50 am :-)Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
