My understanding is that the business deals require a deposit of 3 to 9 months in advance so only paying £285 and then having payments of 360 does seem like a good deal to me.

Turns out it was only based on 5000 miles per year for a 3 year deal. I'm also looking at a Z4, bringing the allowed mileage up on the R to what I've been quoted on the Z4 means the Z4 is only £23 a month more!!!

If your considering a 3 year deal then a lease might be the way to go, I've signed up for a 2 year deal but been given the option to carry on for a 3rd year with a 20% reduction in the monthly fee.

Depends on wheel choice, 18s, grey, 19s blue works very well.

Only go black or grey if you are going to keep it clean. I drove past a dirty one parked up and only noticed it was an R when it was about 20m away! Don't think they do the GTI or GTD in lapis blue, so that was my thinking.

Anyone now fed up with the wait?

I ordered on 13th June and still no build date on the tracker (says 'with the factory') and dealer says he thinks build w/c 13th October but can't confirm. My current lease car goes back to Mercedes on 28/9 so not happy at the mo, although as I ordered direct through local VW dealer he has promised a cover car foc.

Ask them to find you another in the group or ring a few dealers yourself! I rejected the misuses A1 recently and was told there were no others in the group. Rang another dealer, found a car with £500 more spec and told them I wanted that!

Why's your wait so long? I ordered first week of July and have a w/c 28/09.

On a side note, how prevalent has theft of Golf R's been? Is it going to be another highly targeted car like the MK5 R32 and the Audi RS4? This is my main concern as I've got it in the not so subtle white and it'll be sitting on my driveway at night. I don't care so much if it gets nicked, more how I've read stories about HOW they're nicked (break-ins for the keys).

That's daft! I ordered 1 week before you and took delivery on the 5th of August.....

I think it depends where you live, from what I've read they're getting stolen up north.....

It will all depend if the ordering Dealer had a car already in a production slot or if the order had to go onto a wait list.
