Lease on Golf R
Discussion
Thank you. Do you know how often they ship and how long it takes?

Yes it is true. Fleet orders that had a customer hand over date of October or later are being held in Germany, unless they are requested manually by the dealer. This was to allow space for September delivery cars to be on the boats / at sheerness or Grimsby.

There are ships 2 or 3 times a week. It takes about a day to ship and a day or so to unload. Then you have transportation to the dealer.CarlT said:

On a side note, how prevalent has theft of Golf R's been? Is it going to be another highly targeted car like the MK5 R32 and the Audi RS4? This is my main concern as I've got it in the not so subtle white and it'll be sitting on my driveway at night. I don't care so much if it gets nicked, more how I've read stories about HOW they're nicked (break-ins for the keys).
I think it depends where you live, from what I've read they're getting stolen up north.....http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
and another one carjacked in Coventry

Does anyone else feel the paint quality is poor? I am thinking of asking for mine to be checked.
What colour is yours prg?If anyone else has any paint issues, please include the colour in your post. Iirc, there have been issues before with particular colours described as less durable, not affecting other cars of the same model - a BMW, as I recall...
All a bit worrying seeing so many posts about poor build quality, especially on new VWs.
Mine still hasn't moved. I seen a white 5 door yesterday, looks awesome on the road, made this horrific wait all the more arduous.
Those that have their build weeks confirmed, when did you order? I ordered on 23rd June and initially advised late September delivery, like most people who ordered through Inchape VW Cheltenham.
Getting so impatient now!

Mine was delivered with a small scratch about the size of a fingernail. I never noticed til I washed it the next day. The lease co and dealer were fine about it and I Was meant to go to my local dealer to have it fixed, but they have not got a bodyshop. The nearest dealer with a bodyshop is at least an hour away, so the dealer is sending chips away round. They have not been yet, but hopefully they will be fine.
Mine is a 5dr lapis blue, and apart from this small scratch, I think the paint is fine, and the build quality also seems fine..... So far anyway.
