Hi I'm a newbie here am thinking of leasing a golf R. Had a quote from G2L.
6+23 £285.25 inc VAT and metallic paint but only 6k a year. Works out at about £8.4k for the whole contract. Is this a good deal or are better ones out there?
As above, what spec?6+23 £285.25 inc VAT and metallic paint but only 6k a year. Works out at about £8.4k for the whole contract. Is this a good deal or are better ones out there?
But I think 6k miles is very little as your going to want to do a lot more! How much extra per mile is it?
gonna have to lock it up for a few months towards the end of the lease to balance out the miles !
Fortunately i have 10k pa but even that is hard with that car...

Ordered in Oct,
I received my text yeaterday at 8:46.
Moved onto stage 3,
Tracker shows build-date un-available.
Any ideas to when i should expect delivery?
You still need to ask vwcs or your dealer. Suprised you are only just at stage 3. Could mean anything eg build week 14 at best or bw much later at worst!I received my text yeaterday at 8:46.

Welcome to the thread and PH
That quote...
Is it 3 door or 5 door?
is it manual or DSG ?
Any other options selected?
How much for excess miles?
Does it include maintenance?
Does it include tyre cover?
When is the estimated delivery date?
It's a 5 door manual without maintance and tyre cover. No other option part from paint. Excess it 6.23ppm. With £8k miles a year it went upto £305 a month. If I order within 7 days it should be here by mid june That quote...

From signing your finance docs, how quickly did you get the car delivered? Mine still shows arrived in UK but went onto that a week ago so surely at the dealer now?
Depends! AFAIK:-Depends which port it arrived at ie how busy/efficient it is.
Depends on dealer location from port ie further away seems to add a disproportionate delay.
Depends how quick the dealer does the PDI. Can be a week.
Also it is new reg time so everyone is very busy.
So could be a few days or a few weeks.
Got mine today! It's brilliant. I am so happy I got a Manual even though I can understand why the dsg is faster and suited to the car. Revs rise fast! As does speed!
Let my 18 yo cousin drive it. He loved it
Love the sound actuator too. Sounds brilliant and makes you want to drive FAST!

I thought it was slow at first as people had said there is no turbo lag. (My comparison is to a c32 Amg supercharged car - my previous fast car & a 120d lol)
But to me there is definite turno lag and you have to learn how to drive it.
Second to third is my favourite. When you put your foot down after second at the sweet spot for power it really really pulls!!!
Also I've never experienced 4 wheel drive and the levels of grip are insane.
Never ever would have I attempted corners like at that speed in any other car I've driven. It's insane.
I remember I went to karting once and when I came out I tried to go round a roundabout and nearly crashed because I was used to the go kart and the grip around corners. the golf R is like a go kart!

Revs rise fast!
Out of interest, do revs fall fast too? One of my 3 big gripes with the Ed35 GTI was throttle pedal response (the other two being brakes and steering). The engine was infuriatingly slow to respond to getting on and off the throttle.Have they solved that?

I haven't had this issue. I went through Lings and they've been amazing from a customer service perspective
Sorry to but-in and a bit off-topic but i leased my Scirocco through Lings and couldn't agree more. Fantastic service with a specific focus on the customer and keeping them updated. The only thing that lets it down is the absolutely awful website layout. It almost put me off completely until i saw some of the very cheap deals they have on there. That is all finally managed to upload a video of what the exhaust with its vibrating friend sounds like inside the cabin.
Car is completely standard
Car in Race
Gearbox in Sport
for the changes i left it in automatic
downshifts were manual by the paddles as i was coming up to the lights.
and yes. the fiesta on my right wasn't at the lights when they were red, he came sailing past before i got off the line lol.
There is an annoying rattle which was either my dodgy phone holder or the microphone in my several time dropped water damaged iPhone 5s.
anyway.. Enjoy
