Very OT Bt how do you take a Vulcan apart?
Discussion
With the sale of the Vulcan at Blackpool I thought some of you may be interested in these pics.
Vulcan B2 XL318 was dismantled in 1982 at RAF Scampton prior to road delivery to the RAF Museum at Hendon. This rare sequence of photographs by Bruce Woodruff shows 318 being reduced to road-transportable components.
And then she went to Hendon by road!

Airfix do have a Vulcan in their range.
I have to admit to having bought 2 Airfix Vulcan's during my childhood, both at my parents house in the loft.
One painted up in camouflage as Falklands Black Buck Vulcan XM607 - which is still around at RAF Waddington.
And the other is in original anit-radiation white as XL385.
Which ended it's days here - www.avrovulcan.org.uk/crown_copyright/385_scampton.htm

Arse! Wish I'd known - I was at Waddington week before last... could have blagged a look. The guys I was visiting do all the inspection work on the planes of the BBMF, amongst others...

607 is in a bit of a mess! I was there a few years ago, when I was in the RAF and I took a good look around her.
She is kept well away fron the puclic, although they can still have a good view from the roadside.
She is often out for the Waddington Airshow, and every year is meant to be her last.

Great photos. few questions and observations:
-On the 6th photo down it shows the fuselarge with an upper and lower decks. Is this what it seems, or is one the bomb bay, the other the crew compartment?
-Sherpa van. Nice!
-I never appreciated the scale until I saw thes ephotos (although I knew it was big). How heavy was it?
-Where can I get 2m high axle stands? Always wanted to work on my car without bending down AT ALL!!!
Once again, great photos. Many thanks for posting them

Nice picture of the Vulcan components squeezing through the railway bridge. Almost as interesting are the advertising hoardings. The only brand name still in existence is Guinness.
That photo also begs the question, "Was the Vulcan bomber designed with the constraints of the size of that bridge in mind?"
