So when are the winters coming off?

I was thinking tomorrow maybe. With the exception of 6am working days the temperature is above 7c now.

Still time or some more cold snaps yet. I'll be leaving mine on for at least another month.

Me too. Usually leave it until April.

That said will not get another Winter out of them so may just run them out.

Since I've started on a site in the centre of Manchester a few weeks ago I've noticed that a lot of taxis have winters on.

Winter off When the clocks go forward for me - looking forward to a better turn in from summers.

I was near Lancaster in the rain/sleet last weekend parked in a field. 4x4 on summers were all over place in 5 inches of mud. Now I know what the M stands for in M&S rated tyres.

1 degree, heavy frost and ice on the motorway yesterday. Mine are staying on for a month or two yet!

Not yet. The journey to and from the recent Sunday Service at Gaydon saw snow on the M4 on the way there and on the A40 on the way back, not to mention below freezing temperatures and heavily gritted roads.
Think I'll wait until Spring.

Just got back from a few days of not skiing (too much snow rolleyes) in Andorra and had a little coming together betwixt Audi A4 Quattro on snowies Vs Seat Altea on a set of Michelin summers. This really ticked me off as it was the exact "well I can manage on summers ok so I'll not change them" scenario I've heard argued on this thread.

We're driving up through Andorra la Vella and there's police in the road and they're stopping the cars and turning back people without proper tyres or chains fitted. So we stop for the police, wind the window down next thing BANG!!! some nobstain Spaniard on aforementioned summers steams into the back of us. Oh, the irony.

Some pretty mental conditions up there too, and I was amazed at how people got around and deliveries were being made to shops etc.

Thinking the next couple of weeks but I commute early morning so might leave them a bit longer if it's still chilly.

Long term forecast for Gloucestershire shows that apart from the next few days temps will be no higher than 7 degrees until mid march with minimums around -1 to 2 degrees. When I use the car its early mornings and late evenings so my winters will stay on.

After mid march temps are 10 degrees plus at peak so will probably change mine then

Keeping mine on until probably the end of April; it rains a lot and I love the wet performance and nice ride.

The last time on summers in bad weather when I came round the bend to be presented with a line of traffic, I decided to dump the fiesta on verge then brake - undertaking two cars before stopping. it was all in slow motion, but I thought all driving gods could do this with there eyes closed while using the handbrake for extra sideways stopping power? spin

Member of my family just took delivery of an E220d Mercedes wagon with the f-off AMG optic wheels and 35% (?) tyre. Looks great but he could understand why it wouldn't move when they had 20mm of snow recently. He's now talking of coughing up £1700 for a Merc winter wheel/tyre package next year, and has also been alarmed by how much the 19" 275/30 tyres are.

No idea why he didn't discuss the purchase with me first. :roll eyes:

Winters were fantastic in tonights monsoon driving home. You can physically see how much more volume of water they cause to spray up than cars on summer tyres.

I'd expect this with something like a Uniroyal Rain Expert tyre. However with winter tyres, no chance. A definite placebo.

Depends entirely on which tyre. Just like summer tyres some are exceptional at shifting standing water, some less so.
