Just wondering if anyone can advise I have a Ford 302 fitted with a Tremic 5 speed box this has not got a cable point but is electrical for the speedo.
I know I can get a new Smiths 160mph speedo however they seem to be all digital readouts now on the Miles and trip and with the car being a 68 I really want to maintain that period look any thoughts as to which electrical one would work I have seen one from a Jaguar I wondered if that would work.
Any thoughts the Rev counter is smiths so really need to match to that I have the old mechanical one so could use parts from that one to convert a suitable one that would work.
Any help appreciated

I'm sure the likes of Gearboxman, Gears, or any of the T5 type places would be able to convert it for cable easy enough ?

Or some of the yank vendors sell you a kit to DIY

The Cable X, Abbot X, whatever convertor is another option. But it is not a very nice option. I have one for sale if you want.

I think I seen another similar product recently that looked better and slightly cheaper.

best to convert the box properly.

Thanks Steve
I just checked and the current speedo which is off a Modern TVR and is electrical is powered from a sender on the differential which ideally I want to use however I am looking for a Smiths Speedo that is electrical not cable that is 160mph but mechanical trip not Digital really was just checking will they work I can adjust the sender on the differential so the reading is correct.
As you can guess a real novice so go gentle on me hehe

There are companies who can convert the head unit to electrical or whatever you need, but it aint cheap

Speedycables might be able to do it

Why not just get the box converted to a cable, then just retain your factory speedo ?

What's the problem with the rev counter ?

Hi Steve I would presume that means removing the gear box as the car is fully built only running on a none period speedo
this is running off the diff via an adjustable sender unit I have the original smith mechanical unit and yes I presume that can be converted although I have yet to find a company that does that.
I have now found a later smiths speedo that is electric but mechanical trip and mileage that I can get and switch the face from the original and change to Chrome Bezel so I think that is the way I will go.
