I was going to put in some time tonight but my G27 has stopped working with AC 1.1.5. Works in the menu, not in the game.

Edit: going to the Windows calibration piece has resolved this, although I now have a new issue whereby gear selection doesn't work for about five seconds after every hotlap restart

Also knocked 0.3 sec off my time, and I can see there's ~0.5 sec still there for the taking, but once again can't quite grasp it.

I think I'm going to invest in some Clubsport pedals.

Braking is a huge Grrrr!

That's a shame. For the record, I'm using a G27 and did about 15 minutes last night after updating AC and had no problems. I tried the Abarth at Imola and got down to 1m48s, but nowhere near the top times of 1m45s! I haven't driven the Arbarth much (I think we did some hotlapping ages ago at Valleluga in it and that's about it), and it should be similar to the cars I used to race, but somehow it feels very different and I can't put my finger on it; however I think it's down to a huge amount more aero and the lack of feel from actually being in the car, which is everything with a modern slicks and wings car. I doubt I'll get time for a proper go before next week to be honest.

Hasn't arrived yet so I stuffed the existing brake spring with foam from a scotchbrite bad. It's a bodge but it's working OKish.

Better than before.

Actually, it's bloody good. Just set a pb at Spa in
the BMW. And then raced with the first five laps under 2:17.5 secs.

It's making me far more consistent.

Thought I'd try out NVidia Shadowplay, so here's a 1:45.3 if it helps anyone:

Lost a lot of time in turn 5 so I think I could get in the 44s if I put it all together.

Cheers. Confirms I have the gear selection right, just need to finesse things and keep the speed up.

Your hairpin looks a bit slow, and then maybe the left hander at the top of the hill too, so I agree you could get more out of it.

Did that count as Pro? I notice that RSR is a bit more stingy than the game when it comes to whether you've stayed in the track or not, especially coming out of the chicane.

A little improvement:

Based on my best splits, there's another .7 sec in sight, so I'll be very happy with anything under 1:48.

That middle section was my best yet, but either end was less than optimal.

First sector isn't terrible but showing my true form in 2/3!
Thanks for posting the video, it helped break 1:50.

The tips in this thread are spot on - primarily just be more aggressive everywhere, and sometimes use higher gears. Use as much of the track as RSR validation lets you get away with too, as not doing that was my mistake for a long time.

However if you can hold off doing any of that until Monday, that'd be great biggrin

Hoorah! My Upgraded spring has just arrived - looking forward to having a go later when I'm home from work.

It's a shame I've pretty much got the braking sorted with my dishwashing sponge mod hehe

It would be hugely ironic if the sponge mod is better than the new spring...

My best time was achieved by sticking a bit of dish sponge in the pivot, not even dismantling anything!

Unfortunately I spent most of my free hour today trying to sort my G27 centering issue, which I either have fixed or has gone away again by itself. However, 0.3 sec off. I can see where there's more, but I'm probably out of spare time to do it in.

This is my second closest to a WR across all of my current RSR history, so I'm pleased with this week's progress. Most importantly it's now become fairly reproducible, rather than fluke.

I know I set the car & track but I've really enjoyed this week as a drive - much less infuriating than some of the previous attempts.
