Hiring a GT car
Discussion
A friend of mine is getting married this year (April). He's wanting to hire a 'sporty' car for a couple of days. He has been looking on Avis prestige at A5 and XF.
2 people, luggage and comfort. Fri to Sunday. Looking for more 'special' than fast. Budget circa £300.
Ive suggested some sort of GT car. Possibly XK or similar.
Can anyone recommend a company? Any PH'ers willing to hire their motors out?
Cheers.

An A5 and special? Well each to their own I guess, but an A5 is far from special. Are they a keeping up with the Jones' type?
Anyway, tell him to be more adventurous! God even get a 2.5 Z4 for £300ish for a weekend is a lot more special than an A5, probably be a diesel too!
What part of the country is he in? Would help with price et.c as it's different all over the country.
Even a Boxster? SLK? They shouldn't be too pricey but at least get to drive a 2 seater with the roof off, whole heap more special than an Audi parts bin car.
Or he could stretch his budget a bit. A wedding costs a fortune, so what is another 2 or 3 hundred pounds for the car budget for their weekend. A drop in the ocean compared to the £10k+ probably spent on the whole shabang.
Stretch the budget and get something that is actually special and not a washing machine salesmans car. Double the budget, hire an Aston, have a whale of a time in a special car, job jobbed.

I suspect what he was trying to say is that he was looking for a "flashy" car, but that sounds too pompous, so he settled for "sporty"OP, id just agree with him and move on.
Ok - how about a Caterham for 450?

Or a bit left field, how about an old split screen campervan? Loads of hire places offering them.
