I see Applepay is having problems in the US. Quite surprised E2E testing didn't pick this up.

It won't be outside the scope of their project, they'll be testing with all their partners.
No - fair point, but the world is full of instances of technology failing after being QA-ed in the customers' hands. Air bags in cars - just another example.I don't think that a whole raft of glitches will overthrow the mood on this one - look we seem to put up with banks' technology failing every other day in the UK, but there are still people who bank with RBS or Nationwide Building Society!

I've just returned mine today, ordered 128gb silver (£95.00 + vat Vodafone), just don't particularly like the design, like the squarer shaper edges of the my old IP5. Also, think I'm being shafted by Vodafone - as I've got a one net express line (adds about £10.00 pm) I'm being charged £49.17 + vat pm for 4gb(4g) data, Unlimited text & minutes - So £1275.00 + vat or £1530.00 for phone use for 2 years.. when did that become acceptable?? Don't even use that many minutes or texts, could do with about 600 mins
Because of this one express line I wanted Sim only deal and its also £27.00 + vat for 1gb data (3g), Unlimited text & minutes, when without one net £13.75 + vat 1gb(4g) data, Unlimited text & minutes, much much cheaper.

As has been said, you'd expect this to all have been ironed out. Fundamentals of banking payments, transactional properties and rules. Taking money twice is a pretty big fk-up. However, it's not catastrophic and I am sure they will fix it. They must have known how important this was to get right though. Apple just seem to be be making so many QA and other fk-ups recently. That's the real story, what's changed that is allowing this to happen inside Apple?
Despite being a "big" company, Apple are famously "small" in terms of engineering teams - there's a lot of talk at the moment about the software yearly cycle being too short to allow the proper testing and implementation of each years new features. There's pressure from the relentless hardware improvements, but they probably need to either get rid of the yearly cycle or simply do less each year.Just increasing the number of engineers isn't the answer - it doesn't scale. Too much time is being taken up sorting out new system bugs after release, leaving less and less for next years release. Break the cycle, concentrate on Q/A and plan for a bigger, properly tested release over two years IMO.

Do I want a I6 or a 5S?
I could do with more than the 16gb I have now bit 64gb seems a lot. I love the screen and thinness of the 6 and strongly dislike the metal edge of the 5s that my 4s already has.
But I have small hands and the 6 could too big. Thoughts from current users?

- The 5(S) is much, much nicer to hold than the 4(S) because the edge is "bevelled"
- The 5S will be obsolete a year before the 6 is though, and with apple products I'd strongly recommend not paying over the odds for their older models. If you do it, you should go all the way imho.
- The 6 is a big phone for a 4.7", and a big difference with the 4(S), you have to work out for yourself if the gain in display real estate is worth losing one-handed operation.

I just bought my missus an i6+
lots of umming and ahhing; sealed by her stating 'it'll help me browse because my eyes ain't what they used to be'
My logic was it might not fall down the toilet as easy as her 4 did
And Voda offered me £30 for my 4; which was nice
Be careful - I did that last week and it took the wife all of 3 days to crack the screen lots of umming and ahhing; sealed by her stating 'it'll help me browse because my eyes ain't what they used to be'

All she did was put in her dressing gown pocket and sit on the sofa! Appointment at the Apple store in Bluewater on Sunday to try and get it sorted out.
I had a bizarre moment yesterday eve. My 6 was on charge in the afternoon. unplugged it before I left to cycle home, connected the Bluetooth to my Garmin, got home took the phone out of my bag and nothing, completely dead, wouldn’t turn on, nothing. Plugged it into a charge still nothing. Had a shower etc. came back to it still wouldn’t turn on. Tried a hard restart which worked luckily it was on 91% battery. It’s been fine since.

I've had that, I've also had it reset several times (battery with good charge).I'm used to the size now, and my old iPhone5 was knackered, but I think I want a 5 back...
