Hi all,
I have been speaking to a few mini owners in the area about a drive around some of the great road on our door step.

I have pretty much decided on a rout, it will be on a mixture of fast A roads, twisty and fun B roads and some much smaller roads with great views.
Starting in Sheffield we drive to Baslow, then Matlock Bath, then to Monsal Head and over to Tideswell, Then to Castleton, up Wynatts pass and round to Edale, Finally to Ringinglow Village and to a pub. See image for a slightly better idea. This is about 70 miles and should take roughly two hours.

The date has not yet been set, my car is in the garage ATM, but I will update with a times, dates and also a rough directional guide rout when it comes home. The start point is not yet set ether, so any suggestions as a good start place in the Ecclsall, Dore, Whirlow, Millhouses area of Sheffield would be nice.

Due to the size it will probably stretch the mini petrol tank a bit so remember to fill up before hand.

We are not part of a specific club, all Classic minis are welcome, So far we have 4 people on "The Mini Forum" going, all are welcome, PM me or post on here if you have any questions, concerns or would like to come along.

The more the merrier, Thanks, James.

Date-depending I might be interested in this, but as this is a Mini run you must include at least one ford on the route biggrin

In terms of starting points, there's the Moorlands pub at Owler Bar which has a big car park and you're straight out into the Peaks from there.

No I haven't, but have just sent off a request biggrin thanks.

With a spot of luck the dates will be all good and you can join us. The date is not set as my car is currently in the garage for a new gearbox.... it has been for the last 3 months now, still no sign of them even starting work, but he has promised to start it this week, so im expecting next weekend, or the weekend after, but as I said, its down to when I get it back and there is not guessing with this rubbish garage :P

The moorland pub/restaurant is a very good call, will ask the others what they think biggrin thanks.

I've seen the posts on TMF about the garage, that's scandalous! Your car looks gorgeous as well and it saddens me to hear that it's been left outside to rot frown hopefully I'll be able to make it - mine's coming off the road in February for some cosmetic work as unfortunately I'm selling it in the Spring, bought a VW Lupo GTI to use when I'm 19 at the end of March.

I have some details.
Looking at the weather what do people think to Sunday the 23rd. its a little warmer than the weather we have been getting and is just cloudy not rainy, but its an early prediction so could change. Any issues with this date comment or message me.

Time wise im gunna say 1.30 pm, again any issues pm or comment.

Place, starting in Sheffield at the Moorlands Pub carpark, ending point being the pub in ringinlow village, driving out towards matlock and bakewell. around 50 miles.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Point to remember, 50 miles can be a stretch for the thirstier minis petrol tanks, fill up before coming as we will not be planning any petrol stops, and may be a good idea to fill a jerry can if you have doubts if yours can manage on one tanks.

A sign up list has been started on TMF, if you could put your names down on there, if your not on TMF tell me and ill put your name down. Not 100% necessary to do this but it helps get an idea of what numbers to expect.

James.

Some last minuet details. The run is Tomorrow at 1.00pm at the moorlands pub, Sheffield.
Pm me your email address for a rout plan and directions, print it out and bring it with you, we should be able to stick together but final numbers are around 16 are coming.

Very slight amendment to the map, at point "H" we do not go down that little dead end, the RAC planner for some strange reason has added that in, and we turn down the Outlands Road, and then Hill head road, not the Creswell part lane. mark these correction on.
Also at "E" we turn off just before the marker up on a slight detour to the tip of that point (the hairpin left) just as that's a nice little stretch. Ends up on the same road. Also worth marking onto your paper copies.
The afore mentioned loo break is about 10 yards before the turn off of Ashford Ln onto the road that hits point "E". You can see a large car park on street view.... in there is the loos :P
Towards the end of the run just before Hathersage (at the T junction where the Bamford road joins us) there is a Texaco/mace petrol station ("Sicklehome"), we will pull in here for a top up, but even getting here is about 50 miles from the start, so cant stress enough the importance of a full tank to begin with.

Hope to see you there smile
