It's a shame how the choice seems between "some immigration" and "no immigration" - all that most people want is some degree of control over immigration.

Almost 2.5 million unemployed in this country yet we are still importing cheap labour from overseas. It's madness. Yet none of major parties even talk about this.

Because Polish children enter school unable to speak/read English? Just hazarding a guess...

I'd be very happy if the local bodyshop was run by Poles,Bulgarians or whatever. The workshy untrustworthy grunting idiots currently employed there are completely useless. It took an extraordinary 5 repeat visits and a toe-to-toe argument with the fat owner of the business before the replacement door on my Jeep was right.

Teach them English then, do not employ a translator to run schools in polish. It's a bizarre approach to run schools in a foreign language and much to the harm of the kids in question.

The very best English teacher is an English person, not an excuse of a person who speaks polish and May at some point speak English.

Have you ever tried to teach/teach language to someone who does not understand, well, your own?

Most likely she is a teaching assistant who would be employed in that role anyway. It just so happens that she can speak both English and Polish, and therefore doubles up as a translator.

I live near the M20 and I have genuinely seen a number of RO plate cars heading inland over the past 7 days. Whether the fact that they have cars means that they're more financially stable, I don't know.

Didn't catch all the programme... was there any discussion of the potential for mass emigration from the UK to Romania (say)? There's no shortage of reports that the Romanian economy is booming currently and strikes me the parochial but powerfully built entrepreneur-directors of PH might be missing a trick smile
