My daughter's '03 Fiesta 1.4 TDi needs a major service and cam belt change. Can anyone recommend a good independent garage in Bristol (Knowle area) that won't rip her off and will charge a fair price?

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to do add my tuppence as I’ve researched this a fair bit since I bought a e39 525i that needed some work doing to it.
I’d like to recommend Alex at the Old Market garage. It’s an unassuming little place at 5-11 West Street, Bristol. He’s a really nice guy, willing to actually listen to what you have to say and talk through any concerns you may have. He really seems to know his stuff (and I’m fairly handy myself) and charges very reasonable rates. Uses OEM parts unless you specify otherwise and will shop around for you to make sure you’re not paying over the odds. He also won’t recommend unnecessary work; I guess his business model relies more on repeat customers rather than trying to fleece any and everyone who comes in.
I don’t have any vested interest in promoting him but just believe in credit where it’s due. Put it this way, for about the same price I was being quoted to just have the clutch and dual-mass flywheel replaced at other garages, he also, on top of that, was able to replace the radiator and front drop links and all those parts were OEM parts as originally fitted (ie LUK, Valeo). Since then he’s also done my throttle body.

Have a great day all!
