From an engineering and TVR enthusiast I would have liked to have seen them create a cast speed 12 block with bucket heads (especially if they had input from john ravenscroft).. challenging and of limited commercial value though.
Or buy / use the one Dom at TVR Power is sellingneal1980 said:
400k, dream on!
You could get the real one for that....it is after all a replica.
Does a lamborghini countach replica sell for 400k
Dont get me wrong do love it but very un-realistic price IMO.
I dont think thats the point though isnt it built as an engineering project more than anything else, but if you want one they will build you one. I'd also compare it more to the Ferrari based specials. how much did the modern take on the stratos or the p8ish replica cost their owners... well north of 500k and if you want to be brutal the stratos is a cut and shut 430 with some new body panels..You could get the real one for that....it is after all a replica.

Although as far as I am aware that wouldnt be a cast block, it would be a fabricated block..
All 5 Speed 12 engines that TVR built had a fabricated block. I believe that two were scrap from new and that the one that Dom has was used as a display model so I'd think recommissioning that would be both a risk and potentially a money pit.V8 GRF said:

In my experience, recommissioning any engine is a money pit.The only thing that varies is the depth of the pit!

Correct they're both the same car. It's been in build at Bristol Avenue for a few months and they kept it secret for reasons of their own, but they've built it as a technology demonstrator for their company to show off products and their project engineering capabilities.
Looks a serious bit of kit from the pictures (I've not seen it although I knew snippets about it)and I'm sure it'swell builtglued together haphazardly with penis's drawn behind the trim as a lot of the guys from Bristol Avenue who worked on the originals were involved.

So how did they copy the chassis and moulds for the bodywork/panels etc.?? Were they taken off G's Speed12's whilst he was re-building ??
The original moulds still exist so they made new bodywork. The knowledge and designs for the car are still out there as well, you just need to know who to talk to, hence the involvement of ex TVR staff.Skip to 1:50 on this video for it
