Hi all. I'm brand new here and need some advice for tune up hints on a 850 t5 saloon.
Where do I start?
Thank you.

When you say tune up do you increase performance or improve running? Or both

Performance first, economy later.
Thanks

First thing to go for, before attempting any tuning would be a good stage-0 service.
Change all fluids and filters, plugs, leads, dizzy, coil etc. If you can replace the injectors do so or get them cleaned and rebuilt.

Then an off-the-shelf remap from a known tuner for around 150 quid will see it shifting well.

Next, you can look at a RIP kit (reversed intercooler piping) which will offer better responsiveness, a 3" throttle conversion will increase throttle response a fair bit too.

A bigger turbo - 16T, 18T, 19T won't be too hard to come by for not a lot of money.

Upgrade the brakes to 302mm (from a early V70) as you'll need better stoppers, this can be done by just changing the carriers and rotors I believe.

A bigger intercooler wouldn't hurt but not really needed unless you're going for silly power, and then you'd need forged rods, better clutch etc.

You can adjust the waste gate actuator on them - I've done this to all I have owned and countless customer cars (I've run three T5's personally) simple job - pop off the heat shields, remove the r-clip and disconnect and adjust around 8 to 10 turns. re-connect and try (leave heat shield off in case you need to make further adjustments. The car will automatically cut the fuel supply if it boosts too hard so it is safe and if it does this, simply disconnect again and wind the actuator back a couple of turns and try again. A word of warning though, don't run it too long without the heat shields ("round the block" as they say will be fine) as the brake lines run above the turbo and can get hot (dangerous)- It greatly increases boost pressure lower down the rev range upping the torque making far nicer to drive. (This mod is not possible with a modified ECU) and before people moan about fueling the ECU will compensate for the change in boost provided it is within the limits of boost sensor.

Wow. Sounds great. Gotta love these cars. Talk about sleepers.
