Not only that, but someone's been on Dragons Den with that ingredient;

https://www.barenakedfoods.co.uk/

Peter Jones invested.

She went in there saying there was nothing else like it in the market and nobody was using that ingredient, it matters because that clearly isn't true and she obviously hasn't done her homework. Not exactly a great start when you're trying to propose a business plan to someone.

Roisin what the hell were you thinking? Still, I cannot understand why people are NOT told on day one why their product is a non starter. As I said before, talk about wasting peoples time.

And as for Biancas idea confused?

They'd have been marked down for that right away if I'd been the interviewer.
He's the boss, he can do what he bloody well likes!

(And he'd probably word it exactly like that.)

Ah well, not likely to be that then!

I wonder if she just had a quick google....

Still, all she had to say was something like "Ok, it's not unique but they will have confirmed there is a market for the product for us to exploit, and just one competitor is good news"

If she'd done her homework she could have responded with "It's good enough for Peter Jones!"

I see today that Nic has decided to quit.

The series has deteriorated since about year 2, but since the prize switched from apprentice to business partner the process of reaching the final has become pointless.

The Dara programme on BBC2 is the more interesting viewing, by far.

It still astounds me that each year new candidates seem to learn nothing from previous years failings.

The prizes this year really have been crap. I bet the loosing team haven't really cared that they didn't go on them. (Unless they got fired)

Quite. One week it was relaxing in the hot spas of Reykjavik, the next week was tapping a few footballs past a very large David Seaman!

That and as an accountant from a leading firm she failed to notice that she burned Lord Suggsie's quarter of a mill in just two months! Come on... hehe

And jumping off the bloody Orbit Tower at the Olympic park suspended on a bit of wire. fk that for a game of monkeys! I'd rather have a fry up at the Bridge Caff!

I think she was fully aware of that and was intending to seek additional funding.

Really annoys me that the only numbers that came up were her burning through the whole lot.
At least the Dragons want to know some real business questions such as:
- Addressable market size.
- Gross margin.
- Marketing plan.
- Distribution plan.
- HOW MUCH FRIGGING EQUITY I GET!

If you want my £250k you better have a damn good answer to what the return on investment is going to look like.

Makes for more boring telly though I guess.

No, when challenged she said she was expecting to manage her cash flow by getting at least 50% of her supplies on credit. It was put to her that as a start up no one would offer a credit line. That may not actually have been the case though given that Lord Sugar would have been behind the venture. wink We'll never know.

Claude in the boardroom said he had an in-depth conversation with Mark about how he planned to managed the business and was really impressed with him. We saw none of that in the tv programme - god forbid we see anything that might show any of the contestants as even slightly competent.

As you say, going through their cashflows and marketing plans would make for some pretty dull TV.

Also, the equity is split 50/50.

Did you?

-Give me a phone call.

-I'm too busy for this call.

Why ask for a phone call then?
Because he wasn't in character when he was asking for a call, to run a simulated call he had to at some point ask Mark to pretend to call him. Then in character of someone who gets these calls every day he gave Mark the types of replies and put offs he would get in a real call. It was to see if is new digital marketing business would have a SPECIAL usp he could use to gain the interest from him. He dint it didn't. Tights women to win even though it's not new either, it's a less congested market.

Come off it. Objections are one thing, being a dick to put the salesman off is entirely different.

If it had been me, I'd have said, ok, I'll call you next week when you're less busy. Over to you Ricky.

That Bianca looks like the alien from the 'Predator' films. Massive forehead.
