I've always enjoyed anything relating to Fred Dibnah. I didn't realise what an amazing lady his last wife, Sheila was. If she isn't on PH she certainly should be.

A great incite into this interesting man but an even more interesting story of this incredible lady who gave him so much happiness (and some sadness) in his last years.

I've read "Fred" by David Hall, his rise from draughtsman to steeple jack ( no pun ) to "mechaniker" makes for a lovely read for those interested in all things mechanical. Also seen most of his tv work, your post however makes me realise that he had a private life which has been largely overlooked, I will look it out, Fred Dibnah, what a hero.

I'm sure here is a story behind the story that we outside the Dibnah family will probably never know but I just couldn't help but feel for the poor woman he left behind. I guess after 3 marriages there can be complexities.

Ir will be 10 years that poor FD passed away. What a pity his remaining family couldn't come to an amicable arrangement over how to share what was left.
