Hello, I've ordered a Supersport 140
Discussion
Half hood goes on in seconds but getting in isn't that easy - but I am 5-11 , old , fat and with a creaky back. With draught excluder rain isn't an issue for me apart from the odd trickle (maybe that's an age thing too?). Full hood easier to get in I seem to recall but the fact I haven't used it in 40k miles and many years probably says all you need to know about how much I rate HH . Full hood is totally waterproof - well, -ish ,but you get v hot and first time you use it you are convinced the diff is broken and the gearbox isn't over happy either- yup, it's a bit noisy...

Bad points:
Northern weather! It's lovely down here (and as far as I'm concerned, this is North!)
But the weather up here doesn't bother us, not like you southern softies who appear to don half hoods all the time ....Northern weather! It's lovely down here (and as far as I'm concerned, this is North!)

I was referring to most of the guys I`ve seen with half hoods in that they leave them fitted and in position all the time.
The full hood is undoubtedly more waterproof, but it's hot and sweaty and takes a little longer to put up. The half hood is obviously better vented but in seriously bad weather you'll get quite wet .... as I did in the Dales on Saturday going to a wedding Either are easy to get in and out of but the half hood is easier.Gents, trickle chargers on Caterhams...is it better to use a conditioner instead? I've got a Porsche trickle charger in the garage like this one...won't be driving the car for a couple of weeks. Charge it/don't charge it?

Will this suffice for the Caterham or am I better investing in a Ctek conditioner? Would you bother with a new battery?
Any/all advice welcome.

People seem to prefer conditioners over trickle chargers.
I bought a CTEK conditioner for mine (was about £60 ish). It's attached when I don't plan on using the car for a few weeks and pretty much all winter (except for the occasional blat when the weather permits!).
I've had no battery issues from it going flat, and there don't seem to have any problems from using the conditioner either. The battery is at least 2 years old, not sure how long it was in the car prior to that (car itself is an '09).
I have no problems recommending it . I use it with the "comfort" pack which allows me to plug the charger into the 12v plug I installed on the dash, far easier than messing about with the battery clips and bonnet - honestly if it saves you one paint chip from hitting the bonnet against something then it's done it's job!

But a trickle charger will be fine I guess? Would you bother attaching it if it'll only be 2 weeks? Could the immobiliser drain the battery in that time? I also have the 12v socket, so I can literally just plug this Porsche trickle charger straight in.
I'm sure it wouldn't harm over short periods. To be honest my car will start after a month of not moving without using the conditioner so I'd imagine yours should be similar. All I know is that a good conditioner should help maintain the life of a battery while some trickle chargers can shorten it.
Echo the above comments about the conditioner. I`ve used an optimate for many years on race batteries , car batteries , hgv batteries and it has coped with all. This was before all the boutique posh ones suddenly jumped on the band wagon !!!
If you buy new , the majority of them have a small connector that permanently attaches to the battery and the then two leads trail out which you can tuck away somewhere until you need them which saves keep taking the lid off.

In other news, I'm quite enjoying the view from my office door this morning. Yes - I know it needs a wash!
Enjoy!
Well THANK YOU!! Just back from a fantastic dinner hour blat in the car. Spotted another one but couldn't tell you what model it was as I was making progress! Got a wave and managed a quick wave back.
I thought it was your ugly mug I've been looking at for months on my desktop!
In other news, I have cleaned it and I've done 505 miles in the car so today I got the shift light blinking in 4th...nice.
