Well the Argentinian ambassador to the UK has met with BBC executives and asked for an official apology.
... no apology.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!... no apology.
They should apologise immediately!
The Argies that is - for being a bunch of whinny bhes masquerading as a mob, and destroying some quite nice cars (ok, the cars were doomed from the moment they were assimilated by TG, but still)
The Christmas Special is definitely going to be aired as planned.

Top Gear's Christmas special WILL be shown: BBC confirms controversial episode filmed in Argentina will air despite new complaint from country's ambassador.

Team are driving pickups on temporary permits without displaying licence plates, which is quite legal.
Press have dredged up a photo where the clarity is insufficient to see if the temporary permit is clearly displayed in the rear window.
The st stirring bds , and there really is no other appropriate term for them, then rang up the Canadian police, sent them the photo and asked for a comment.
Really even snakes don't crawl as low as some tabloid journalists.

While the BBC website goes into details on Christmas soap plots: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/xmas14
all it says about Top Gear is:
"Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be back in a two-part Top Gear Patagonia Special, on a road trip through South America; there will be a brand new episode of James May's Toy Stories, in which he attempts to rehabilitate one of Britain's most derided toys, Action Man; and Gareth Malone is back with The Choir: New Military Wives."
