Can any expert out there explain the effects of front wheel camber. I have just had the alignment checked on Griff 500 - front cambers are 2.03 degs and 1.32 degs, both negative. Toe in has been set to 0.16degs. Apparently the camber is outside the specs - should I be concerned? Will I notice any difference if I have it reset? I hear it is not the simplest of jobs.

Thanks in advance.

The two sides should be similar. The '1.3 degrees' side sounds about right for normal road use. The '2 degrees' side is not far off what you'd want for track use although it would lead to steering kickback and tramlining on the road which could be tedious. Unless you're a track day animal you may want to get them both set to around 1.3 ish degrees.

Does anyone know of a place in the Suffolk/Essex area that can check alignment simply and cheaply?

Keridges use Brockfords in Needham market.

They set my Griff up last summer and the bill was about £100.. money well spent!

Thanks Heliox! I've just booked it in with Brockfords for Thursday. £45 to check it and 'up to' £100 to change anything that's needs changing. That's a lot better than Zertec's £500!

The sting is that Offord said that they'd 'set-up' the geometry - so it will be interesting to see what it's *really* like...!

Niel Anderson at the factory told me that for most TVRs , one degree of negative camber and 5 minutes of toe in is a good starting point

There is also castor angles - this is all Swahili to me - can anyone suggest a book or URL where I might learn this language please, and what effect changes to each of the settings will cause in the car?

this might sound a bit bizarre but car set-up section of Grand Turismo 3 - playstation et al has a natty descrption of the effect of changing most of the suspension features you also get to 'drive' the car and try it out for youself.
It's not that bad

to be fair to Zertec the job you get their is carried out by a top race suspension tech who tailors the car to suit your driving needs especially if you have adjustable shocks were ride hights can be changed etc

I've got standard shocks so Brockfords seemed the better option on the day..
