It does make me curious to see which car would be quicker (assuming identical tyres):

- this convertible where so many bits have been modified and time wasted spent tweaking it, or
- a 328i saloon that is absolutely bog standard except for a really nice spring/damper set and upgraded brake pads/fluid.

I live on a fairly small street, maybe 150 yards long. Subsequent to a discerning choice by a neighbour there are now two AMG C43s that live on it. biggrin

No. The steering and suspension set-ups are different however.

'Gearshift feel' is very subjective. If however you refer to the awkward clutch/gearshift relationship, this can be rectified at little cost by either modifying or removing the Clutch Delay Valve (CDV), which exits to protect the drive-train from fktards.

The brakes remain over-servo'd on either car, alas.

Don't know about the computer, but the car itself will be a disappointment I fear.

Stick with your C124/Boxster idea.

Noice. Not sure DKR is the best colour, but no doubt it's got admirable provenance. Would dearly love one of these too; a Sportline 24 valver in silver over part leather/cloth sil vous plait cloud9

Same goes for its Wagen stablemate.

Sportline could be ordered with the cloth though, which solves the rouched leather conundrum. Chrome extras I can live with; they're still quite subtle.

Under 20k miles & under £40k, you think they'll give a good price on a lightly used mini?
Looks great - better value than the Blue 997 Turbo i posted a few pages back. Car is in Northern Ireland which can have an effect of price.
Someone made the call from over on the Porsche forum;

Yeah I called about it today as was interested myself , not good news.... apparently the owner moved abroad 4 years and its sat in storage ever since ... has only two services in its history... 1 at Porsche 6 years ago I guess its first service.... and the only other one is done by the garage themselves! :/ so non OPC.

Awesome spec and looks perfect i LOVE IT , But there is no province of milage / history or condition and to be fair could be 5-7k worth of work easy.. thats before dodgy stuck actuators ???

Very nice. I know it narrows the choice dramatically but I couldn't buy one without aircon.

...but then you'd have two convertibles, and you don't even like convertibles bandit

I predict you'll end up buying and breaking three 124s, just to get the various interior bits you want idea

scratchchin If someone buy a 456 for £17k and make it work, this should be plain sailing!

(Says the man who took an enormous cold shower on an NSX gamble/impulse buy! irked)

I feel your pain, my search for a post 58 plate BMW with a manual box and a straight 6 is taking me down to Middlesex from Stafford. Found a lovely looking 125i Coupe though.

Beard question: if we're talking new Porsches, does huge yellow brake callipers equal carbon ceramic brakes?

Ah OK.

Spotted a Panamera Diesel on small wheels wearing huge yeller callipers this morning.

But because I'm uneducated and generally misinformed about most things, I couldn't help feeling that the owner had been royally had.

Yes*

*Unless they've swapped them out for steels, or had their steel brake calipers painted yellow.
