Interesting about the control weights - I would have assumed a Boxster and M5 of those vintages to be somewhere in the same ballpark for pedal feel etc.
What you describe about the Boxster is similar to what I like - a light, long travel throttle so that it's easy to modulate and drive gently in town; a brake pedal that is quite firm so that it's easy to modulate.
The GT3 has these, although quite a heavy clutch to go with it. The Merc C43 is the opposite - a firm throttle that is hard to avoid lurching with, and a spongey brake pedal that gives no confidence it will work (even though it actually has almighty brakes).

So I've just bought a B3 3.3 Coupe - been on my radar for a while but they're difficult to come across in decent condition and reasonable money.
That engine - raucous and so linear in it's delivery. Didn't think this car would top an E39 but it's getting there.
So where does a 25 yr old go from here? Just sold an absolutely mental MX-5 so the next convertible will probably be an E46 M3 Cab in the mid - ish future.
I think it has to be a V8 next.

Nice evening blast out tonight... still loving the Clio.

I suppose it depends what you're used to. I don't think I've driven a petrol car that couldn't be described as relatively 'torquey' for a while. Pretty sure the M54 in my old 330 and 530 felt more linear whereas, to me, there was a notable step in power above 4000 or so rpm in the Boxster. I've become accustomed to making relatively quick progress even if changing up at 4000rpm though and don't get to drive anything else to compare.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
