If you're willing to go well over £15k then you're as well going all out...

Sorry, for a moment there I thought that was a pre-facelift M5 with over 150k miles with an asking price of £17k an dnot even 6 months' tax into the bargain...

So not worth it then, Len?

MPG wise, a 330i is no better than an E46 M3 ...
Just to add some detail, over 50k miles my Spanish 2007 330i M-Sport has average 29.5mpg in all kinds of traffic. Low thirties is easy on the motorway but the engine is so sonorous, its a shame not to use it.

Also, not a spanner put on it outside of regular servicing. Now at 115k and still the best car I've owned. Proving impossible to replace!

To me that looks like a good 20 year investment. If all that work has really been done then mileage is a detail.

Had a brief drive of this today as my good friend has just purchased it..... things have moved on in the last 10 years or so but it was a fantastic experience; has a nice old school feel to it.

Moved on, but not necessarily for the better? Subjective, of course. I guess the powerplant isn't noted for being anything special.

I was fairly keen on either a Mk1 FRS or 147 GTA were I to have stuck with FWD for my last purchase.

That's 2mpg more than my CS averaged over 20 months and 22k miles.

Hhhmmmm hard to say really..... The torque steer wasn't as bad as I was expecting despite what the reviewers said when it was released, engine is basically a 2.0 duratec unit with a turbo bolted on but it's a very nice car to drive. It isn't standard, currently producing a healthy 260 bhp which feels enough for the car to cope with. He has bought it because he has wanted one for a while and it's destined to be a future classic and it suits his driving style perfectly. I think a mk1 RS is worth it for the looks alone.

These are my favourite Alpina and 5 series. That car looks achingly good in every way.

In the land of paradise (AKA Lottery), my Cote d'Azur villa with a 500E in one of the garage spots would be making way sharpish for this Alpina.

A Bi-Turbo Touring would be a good way to get there. If you didn't have a private jet.

Am I right in thinking a Threadist has had a Mk5 Golf GTi? What's the low-down on them?

Had a fantastic day at Silverstone Classic yesterday (gosh, it was hot) with friends and family. Great racing, brilliant food and superb car displays all added up to make a wonderful day out cloud9

Oh and JC, I did see you but but you looked engrossed in conversation with the Lamborghini Club polo wearing beards wink

Still haven't been to the Silverstone Classic. Had it not clashed with something else this year I'd have gone.

Shame to hear about the death of one of the drivers though. At least he went doing something he loved.

hehe I did consider it!

It is a great event and seems to get better each year that I've been with regards both the racing and the off circuit facilities.
