Loon - are you around the week of the 8th Sep?
I may pop by as I've got this very car for the week:
Assuming I don't die driving it home of course. 311bhp. Gulp.
You don't fancy swinging past Canary Wharf while you've got that, do you? I'm very handily placed for a couple of Tunnels plus one off the beaten track road which would be a great location for stretching its legs.I may pop by as I've got this very car for the week:

620R looks like an awesome car. I need to experience it.

Castelnau sur Gupie is 5 mins down the road if that means anything.
Ah, OK. We were more on the coast. Mimizan / Biscarosse way. Lovely part of the world down there. you're right in the middle of perigord!XJS update.
It looks fantastic. From a distance. Up close, a few bits that need tidying.
It sounds naughty. I suspect the Lynx exhaust may have something to do with that.
It's an odd mix. A very early HE at heart, so has the wire thin steering wheel, roller gauges etc, which are all very 70s, but the lynx Mods make it look a lot more recent externally.
It has a pin sized hole in the top hose, which led to a little steam and cautious eyeing of the temp gauge, but fortunately all was well. Have shoved some hose fixing tape for now, and ordered a new hose. The wheels need balancing, it gets a little wibbly wobbly between 70 & 80. The cloth headlining is in good nick, but needs de-sagging.
It feels long. Very long.
Overall, I'm rather pleased with it. It won't be a 5 minute job to make it really nice, but neither will it be a restoration. It's taxed and mot'd so I shall smoke it while I fiddle.

Hhhmmmm hard to say really..... The torque steer wasn't as bad as I was expecting despite what the reviewers said when it was released, engine is basically a 2.0 duratec unit with a turbo bolted on but it's a very nice car to drive. It isn't standard, currently producing a healthy 260 bhp which feels enough for the car to cope with. He has bought it because he has wanted one for a while and it's destined to be a future classic and it suits his driving style perfectly. I think a mk1 RS is worth it for the looks alone.
Future classic and won't get much cheaper, I'd like to think that the 'torque steer' would make it interesting to drive too, in a positive way. Not had the fortune to drive one or even sample that interior though..Fairly sure the engine is essentially a Zetec with a Duratec name stamped on top by the way.

Which donkey does it have? And are they the right wheels for it?
It sits a little nose-high - again, is that how it should be?

Converted by Lynx into a Spyder, and fitted with their 'Performer' body mods and tweaks to engine. Don't know about the wheels, but then most of the car is bespoke/bodged (delete as per personal view) so what's right came down to whoever commissioned the work. I believe there were 2 to this spec.
It's parked uphill, which doesn't help, seems to sit quite straight.

I rather like the XJS, it's a bit of class.Converted by Lynx into a Spyder, and fitted with their 'Performer' body mods and tweaks to engine. These wheels are very nice and suit the shape/proportions.

I think so. I enjoyed running an R129 for a year that cost me about a quid a day in depreciation, knowing full well they'll be out of range in the not too distant. The XJS is somewhat similar in principle, except Mercedes managed to make their products work day to day.
Still, the XJS, especially in dhc form, does seem to be at the very bottom of the curve pricewise at present.

I came within a gnats nad of buying a very clean G-plate 5.3 FHC from the auction I worked at during student summers in the mid-00's. Willing to part with a number well below £1,000, I was gutted to see it pass that mark on its way to a mighty £900.The XJS is somewhat similar in principle, except Mercedes managed to make their products work day to day.

Having missed it, I bagged a 1 owner, 25,000 mile Ford Orion Ghia in the same auction instead.
Drove that for 6 months and sold it for double what I paid, which is the one and only time I've managed free motoring. I doubt the XJS would have afforded the same result but I still regretted passing it up.

Yes it does make it interesting; certainly keeps you alert....... as much as i look of them i am not sure i would buy one.... probably end up with an Integra Type R (DC5) Fairly sure the engine is essentially a Zetec with a Duratec name stamped on top by the way.
