You can see with a lot of those offences no surprise whatsoever when they get booked, they know they are going to get booked but its deemed a price worth paying. That's a pretty fked up attitude/approach to playing any sport IMO.
Agreed. The 'tactical' fouls to stop breaks by the other team are being taken too far now and it's starting to piss me off. All teams do it and it's completely unacceptable IMO.
Why's Rooney suspended at the moment? wink
Because he crossed the line from just taking the bloke down to somewhere approaching a violent tackle. If he'd just tapped the bloke's ankle he would almost certainly only have been booked.

I swear before that game I was talking to my youngest and said 'united to get streetwise like chelse and city,we dont commit fouls when the other team breaks on us ,we need to get some tackles in its worth a yellow card if it stops them scoring'

although rooneys effort was not quite what i had in mind.

I'm just re-calibrating my irony meter here but you're complaining about Chelsea committing tactical fouls and "it's a pretty fked up attitude/approach to playing any sport" while your club captain is currently serving a 3 game ban for ballsing up his attempt at a tactical foul and getting sent off.

Did I say he didn't deserve it? (or that he wouldn't have deserved same even if he had just "tapped his ankle")

Were you at the game?
Yep,although I don't see the relevance ...unlike Robby savage 'united had one attempt on goal' ..

So United had more possession ,more than double chelsea efforts on goal, double the number of shots on target and Chelsea's keeper was man of the match ,but apparently they dominated United?
stats can be misleading but not in this instance .
and why did Chelsea need to kick and foul a United player every time a break or threat was on if they were in. Such control?

Thought you might have been there too. We were SAF Stand Tier 2.

I reckon Chelsea fouled United c.12-15 times when we had possession in good areas. It must have been a deliberate strategy and maybe the ref just got tired of Ivanovic niggling away.

Seems to me that MOTD & the BBC chose a line for the sake of controversy and stuck with it.
Talk Sport were more balanced, could see Chelsea sat on their lead, and paid for it. Monday papers took the same view.

i am enjoying the performances,we are playing good stuff for the first time in 4 years ,and have players who excite again.
I'm looking forward to games again for the first time in ages.im even looking forward to city ,my blue pals aren't as cocky as they have been the last few years.

What pissed me off is the media going on about that wrestling, all th lads sat near the foul that came form said it wasn't even a free kick, but that's not the issue,Barnsley 2 blatant handballs, west brom another and that shocker of a decision against Leicester which changed the game but for bad reffo g we'd be 7 points better off ,so if anyone should be pissed off about ref decisions it should be us

yes,but i'm excluding all the tackle ones we didnt get and anything debatable ,ive just listed the obvious handball ones ,yes we've got away with a couple, but nowhere near the level we've not been given.Im not one to whinge normally about it,as I think they equal out over a season, and the only reason I raise it is because how much attention does the press give it,yet one incident at a corner which happens at most corners and resulted from a free kick that wasnt (according to some ) generates a campaign in the press (the mail) .

Wary of City bouncing back against us in dramatic fashion on Sunday... they've not been great at all lately.

I'm trying to not get my hopes up.

Not working.

First time in 3 years that I'm looking forward to the derby as opposed to dreading it.

Let's be honest, after this season and last anything more than a complete pasting is a good result!

I can't wait. Rooney is fit after a scare Monday and Di Maria is exactly the type of player Toure hates playing against.

RVP got the kick start his season needed against Chelsea and we defended pretty well. There is also no way City will be as cynical as Chelsea particularly at home.

Plenty of reasons to be positive.
