Most rubbish reasons and excuses for selling a car
Discussion
Having read, and let`s be honest here, along with most guys on here literally thousands of adverts what are the most memorable in terms of `obviously fabricated`?
I mean, if you`re selling your car you`re selling your car. I know some people (myself included in this bracket) won`t entertain a car that`s been recently bought or had 5 owners in a year.
A couple of common reasons are;
Pregnancy forces sale ( but really only had it 3 weeks and the automatic box sometimes doesn`t change).
Just bought it and the wife can`t drive it (mentions further on in the ad there`s a light on the dash and there `sadly` isn`t any service history nor V5).
Great car but need a van for work (why buy a Z4 with mismatched panels only 2 months ago?)
What I`m getting as it the less believable stories like......
Someone selling their rotten 1995 Mondeo diesel sitting in their litter strewn garden but have miraculously been awarded a `company car`.
Anyone care to add?
A lot of driveway traders are selling cars on behalf of their dead mother/grandmother.
Bought it for my girlfriend but she doesn't like the colour.
Main gripe is when people claim to be private selling and they are really a trader. I don't mind but just wish they would be honest as sometimes you end up thinking it could be a ringer or something a bit more untoward.

I brought a car, I owned it for 6 weeks before I got bored with it and sold the car, completely genuine and nothing wrong with the car, I've owned 23 cars in the last 12 years.I mean, if you`re selling your car you`re selling your car. I've never found being brutally honest any problem. When I sold my Golf SDI it was because it was dangerously slow. Pulling out of a petrol station on the A63 was only achievable by waiting for a ten mile gap between me and the next car down the road. The advert read as such and it was sold in a week to a young chap who's dad thought it was perfect for him.
I'm going to be in this boat soon...
When my company car arrives in 3 months or so i'm going to sell my Prius (... yes, a Prius - insert jokes here!). The reason for sale will be because I will have no reason to keep my current car at all. So when I put on the advert that it is for sale due to company car arriving, I won't be lying, that's the genuine reason. I've only had the car for one year, will this make it look bad? - probably, but again, that's the genuine reason for sale.
My point is that there are some acceptions to the rule (like myself)
:-)
