Can't remember posting the this but I've been thinking about it for ages. What do you prefer, pure mechanical engineered grip, or electronically assisted grip? I can see that electronics boost what is there but prefer mech grip myself. However mech grip is way more expensive to design in these days, what with cheap ecus off the shelf. My smart car had good mech traction, but crap stability reigned in by over zealous computers. The duster has no electronics, but feels rock solid. Why do I feel like I'm missing out on safety now? My bike has no help whatsoever!!

Mechanical grip, in both a road car and an off roader.

More so in a off roader as I find it easier to make progress with mechanical LDS wich allows an amount spinning rear tyres that then grip / allow motion unlike electronic LSD systems which just beep at you and cut the power. Not relaxing my heavy right foot may be the problem here.

I've seen cars where the electronics really work well with the car to make you look like a driving god by subtle braking individual wheels etc but they are few and far between.
Stability control - this is where electronics really do well on sorting out fast swerve situations.

What is 'electronic grip'? Electronics can only work via the medium of mechanical grip - often better than a human can.

All the electronics do is make the most effective use of what mechanical grip is available - they can't create it if it isn't there.

Fake grip, or an illusion provided by a computer. As opposed to mechanical grip. Damn, my question may be weighted....
