I think this term is a little out of date, I know three Barry's and they respectively drive, a Mercedes M Class (standard), Automatic Toyate Avensis (Standard) and some kind of Korean Shoping Hatch whose name escapes me but used to have an immaculate S Type Jag of the original ilk (Both Standard).
Barrys tend to be older chaps nowadays and generally drive, from what I can see, standard examples of normal cars and do not fit the stereotype of a badly modified hatchback, Japanese Coupe or old Rally Rep.
So, we need a new name as Barry seems to have retired.

Confused - I always thought Barry'd referred to Barry island and was another word for chav'd.
or am I missing the ironic tone of the OP
That's what I thought, It might be related to there, but I never knew that Barry Island was a hot spot for cars, especially compared to Southend seafront etc.or am I missing the ironic tone of the OP
or because of the site:
http://www.barryboys.co.uk/ that had quite a lot of people who posted both on here and on there.
