UGH.

Got in the car at 4:30 this morning to watch both headlight bulbs pop on my shed within 2 minutes of each other. Massive PITA. Ran back into the house, nicked the wife's car, carried on my way.

Am I right in saying the correct course of action is now to:

1) Just replace the entire car with Mercedes W201
2) Buy new headlight bulbs
3) Sell car with defective bulbs installed and new ones on the passenger seat

This seems the only right solution to me, but SWMBO is steering me towards £8 of bulbs.

Any advice/experience appreciated.

Is it one of those French cars where headlight removal requires full disassembly of the front of the car?

Not sure what you're talking about, the last French car I owned had the biggest engine that could possibly have fit in the bay and I could change each of the headlights in under 60 seconds without the use of any tools. A Corsa D though, requires the front bumper removed...

It's precisely a 5 minute job.

(I MAY be clutching at straws looking for an excuse)

4) Log in to PH and start a quasi-humorous topic about replacing a headlamp bulb implying that SWMBO may, for once, have come up with the sensible solution.

5) Switch to sidelights + foglights until MOT time. Negate the loss of light by driving proportionately closer to the car in front.

Avoid using main beams as you may need to rely on them should the foglights fail in the meantime.

Perhaps I should ask the internet for advice when I next need a pair of new shoelaces?
